CFP's top 10 coaches ... right or wrong?

I’m not sold on Kelly as something doesn’t seem right.

I question if Dabo can stay on the list with the coaches he lost.

I’m hoping Riley wins a natty in the next couple of years with Caleb. The meltdown would be epic.
- I think Kelly will win a NC at LSU ... lesser coaches than Kelly have won at LSU. It will be after Saban retires, assuming he does so in the next 5 yars.

- I agree on Dabo ... been saying this for years. Unless he changes his tune, he's done.

- I actually don't think Riley will get it done at USC. Don't think they will be able to recruit the LOS well enough. He will get the skill players to have a powerful O, but the D will be his downfall, as it was at OU.

BK is a legit coach.. He's going to do well at LSU, and make it even a bigger warzone as far as recruiting in the Houston area.

If he can convince the Cali kids on the defensive side of the ball to stay in Cali -- they have plenty of talent to have a much better defense than he ever had at OU. OSU signed a DT from Cali ranked 129th nationally. Stanford signed an edge rusher ranked 66th. USC signed the #5 recruit nationally who is a CB.

Korey Foreman signed with USC last year as the #2 recruit nationally as a DE. If I'm not mistaken -- Thibedoux was from California too, a few years ago -- so Cali has the high end elite talent on the defensive side of the ball -- it is all about Riley getting them to sign at USC.

Pete Carroll never had a problem attracting defensive talent to USC. I doubt Riley will either. Pete Carroll was a defensive coach, but he was smart enough to make sure that both sides of the ball were well recruited and he stayed out of his OC's way.

If Riley is smart enough to do that...it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I've noticed that as well. But you have to admit he has gotten progressively worse. He had a good run of luck with transfer QBs. But he never figured out the D side of the ball. My guess is that people figured out his offense, and he never got D.

We'll see. He should have access to more talent here than he had in Oklahoma. As an offensive coach, he may have chosen to win with what he knew. At USC, he should just be able to make sure he recruits both sides of the ball like Carroll did.

With the offense he should be able to put together, he likely won't need a great defense, just a good one to compete for NC's.

The problem is he still has Alex Grinch.

Consider the following:

Of the top 14 cities that produced NFL players on rosters in 2021, none were west of the Mississippi.

Of the top 14 states that produce NFL players, only Texas and CA are west of the Mississippi. CA only produced 2 more players than Georgia.

California only produces the 4th most amount of NFL players now.

Of the top 10 states that produce the most NFL players per capita, Utah is the only one west of Mississippi

The demographic trends tell you everything you need to know moving forward. The NFL is close to 60% Black and Black folks are reversing the Great Migration in addition to moving out of the cities. Less players will continue to come from LA as the Black population continues to decrease and the Latino population that doesn't play steadily increases. Same applies to other West Coast cities/metro area such as Seattle, The Bay, etc.

Yeah -- if he pulls even a few of the elite defensive recruits Cali puts out each year -- They will make Grinch look better as a coach.

The athlete's USC can recruit will solve alot of problems if Riley is able to keep them in state, which seems like it will be the case, as he had been able to recruit so many to come to OU.

Consider that the top 4 states for high school recruits in 20202 were Florida, Texas, Georgia and California.

USC will be just fine.

I'm not betting against you - I want more better teams especially historically great teams like USC, UCLA, Nebraska, etc. The sport is better when those teams are better.

That said, I am also not on the USC train yet. Riley has to show he can put together a defense, something he has never done. Once he does that, he has to show he understands how to balance O and D. Finally, the demographics are against you in that less and less top players are coming from Cali. That won't suddenly turn around. So Riley has to show he can keep all those SoCal players in state. NIL should help. But Riley is the opposite of a sexy coach who is going to get USC back to being the sexy team like it was under Carrol. I mean he is the opposite of cool.

Should be fun to watch, for sure. I'll be pulling for you until we play each other.

This post and the article is very illuminating: Is it finally time for us to crown Georgia #1

Didn't help Riley that the Big12 plays a round robin schedule every year as well. Schools started to figure out how to slow down or keep close to his offenses.

Trojan fans are going to think you are trolling.
i think they know that there could be something to playing the same 9 schools every year..

In support of Smart:

2-0 vs Brian Kelly
1-0 vs Jimbo Fisher
1-0 vs Lincoln Riley
1-0 vs Luke Fickell
1-0 vs Jim Harbaugh
1-0 vs Dabo Swinney
1-3 vs. Saban

He hasn’t played Dave Aranda or Ryan Day.
Kirby Dumb is 1-4 vs Daddy. Don’t try and church it up, boy

First I have no idea what you said ... I am assuming English is your second language.

1-4 instead of 1-3. Good for you gump. 33-18.

Now go fuck your cousin.

Richt would have beat us in the SEC championship game and wouldn’t have needed a second chance. Kirby Dumb pissed down his leg.

You use a translator to type that?

Why would you hate Kirby who helped you to many of your natties? Seems a waste of effort, but then again you breed your cousins.

Kirby is your daddy right now, enjoy it!

Kirby Dumb ain’t shit. Richt wouldn’t have let some backup QB come in in 2017 and win. Richt would have punted on 4th and 11 in 2018. Kirby Dumb didn’t.
