The EU will soon require all cellphones to have the same type of charging port
Cellphones and handheld electronic devices in the European Union will be required to have a USB-C charging port by 2024.

Lame. Apple was probably moving toward swapping the lighting port with USB C in the next couple years anyway, but what a stupid thing to regulate.
Also, I prefer the lighting port for phones.
