Cherokee Nation wants Jeep to drop Cherokee name

I can't speak for the new ones, but those old Jeep Cherokees with the 4.0 straight 6 were indestructible. Use em, abuse em, and they'll take it all in stride. I treated mine like shit for 8 years, it had over 400,000 miles on it when I sold it to my buddy, he still drives it to work every day. They should be proud to have their name attached to that.

I mean, we used to play football with round bails of hay with that old Jeep pushing them.

And one time I didn't have enough antifreeze, and the water froze when the polar vortex came through. Ran it so hot the engine shut off. Thawed it out and it was like nothing happened.

A lot of off road people prefer the Cherokee over the Wrangler because they will take a beating. I believe they are also a lot easier to fix on the trail as well.

They're a lot tougher and more stable than a Wrangler. I took mine through places where my butthole would have been puckered up if I were in a Wrangler.

And the few times you do have to work on them, they're super easy to work on, but like I said, mine was high mileage and I treated it like shit, and a water pump, a starter and a couple hoses are the only things I ever had to change(other than routine things like brakes en sech)

200,00 Cherokee's a year x $200 bucks a unit. Wonder what that's worth?? Where is the ceiling on that.??

That was my first thought. But if they operate 11 casinos or gaming centers so they probably don't need the money. And if they are looking for money Jeep probably isn't going to like their asking price.

The way I see it if an indigenous tribe doesn't care there really isn't an issue. Take the Eskimo Joe's thing last year. When people reached out to indigenous people in Alaska last year they kind of shrugged and said whatever so the story died. If future generations of Aluet people decide it needs to become one then it should be revisited, but for now it's fine. But now, if the Cherokee People are saying we have a problem with this, then Jeep needs to be smart about how they handle this.

I'll watch this closely. Because if Jeep caves and gives the Cherokee a big settlement, I'm calling my attorney about the Lost Providence Brewing Company. They make Fat Bastard Ale and well, there may be an opportunity for compensation on my end there.

Choctaw Casinos are alright. Durant is ok but Chickasaws have Riverwind and Winstar, which are arguably the flagship casinos in the state. Winstar is in Thackerville OK which is about as a bumfuck OK town as it comes but it has a distinct advantage of being the closest point to the DFW metroplex that you can get in the state. It's one of the biggest casinos in the world and it's in Thackerville fucking Oklahoma.

The Cherokee's have one that is just right where Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri intersect. I don't know much about the casino but the hotel and dining are amazing for BFE. Driving from Minnesota to Southern Oklahoma it's far and away the best hotel you will find between KC and OKC if you need to stop for the night. It's the best non work event hotel I've ever stayed in and as a 4 hour drive from my hometown makes for a great break if you can't make the final push to my parents.

The casino thing in Oklahoma is nuts. When I was a kid the Chickasaws had video bingo but that was about it. A buddy from HS is native and he had a security job there when we went. Good times but it's fucking bingo. Go off to grad school and they pass the lottery-come back two years later and Winstar is something that makes Bosier look like shit and legitimately competes with Vegas.

Honestly thinking about this, an Oklahoma casino tour should be a thing. The Tribes there put a lot of effort into the experience. I've been to Native operated casinos in multiple places in the upper midwest. Flandreau and Watertown SD are Sioux casinos and Flandreau is considered the nice one but Durant kicks the shit out of it. I don't know the tribe, but Morton MN is ok. Nice event center but it offers all the accommodations you would expect from Morton MN. Mahnomen MN is where the ex is from. It reminded me of Walking Tall. Kicked some blackjack ass there the night before I got married though-maybe the shady dealers knew what was up and wanted to give me one last night of fun.

Yeah. I mentioned the bingo parler but when I was a kid their cstore off 35 in Davis was a big deal.

And to their credit they are reinvesting it in their people.

My podunk ass hometown is exactly what you would expect for rural Oklahoma but the health and wellness center they built there is state of the art. It helps that Anoatubby went to the same high school as me. So Tish and Ada get the perks but they don't build the big casinos there.

To be fair if in 2007 or so the Chickasaws had known that rising country star Blake Shelton would land in Tish and 10 years later build a restaurant that is a tourist trap they would have plopped the biggest casino monstrosity downtown. My hometown has benefited from lucky tourism but if the cards really played out we would have become a really redneck version of Branson.
