GAME Citrus Bowl #15 Iowa vs #22 Kentucky 1pm (ET) ABC

The program is good for developing talent, just not utilizing it.

Ferentz has been a good coach for Iowa. He's had 7 seasons with 10 or more wins in his 22 years.

10 Win seasons: 4
11 Win seasons: 2
12 Win seasons: 1

Iowa only had 3 seasons with 10 wins all-time before that.

While that is impressive, you have to acknowledge that there used to be less games so a 10 win season now is probably more like an 8-9 win season back in the day.

It's too bad Iowa can't field a quality offense. Their defenses have been great lately (top 20 in FBS in scoring every year since 2015)

I agree he's had some good teams while recruiting second tier talent and I've mostly been a supporter of his.

There have been some "eras" during his time where a fan just wants to be done with him. Having Ken O'Keefe as his OC was horrible and when he finally moved on, the offense improved.

When Brian Ferentz replaced Greg Davis in '17 it seemed like we finally had the makings for a updated, more dynamic offense. Then Kirk rehired Ken O'Keefe as a consultant and now he's Brian Ferentz's "mentor". Now as everyone knows, our offense is stale as fuck. Would Kirk really fire his own kid? I don't think so, but something needs to change.

It's Iowa and I don't expect to compete with Ohio St every year, but I also don't want to watch this bullshit either. There are HS offenses more complex than what we run.

Try dealing with that stuff plus turnovers, penalties, and shit special teams play.

Ferentz keeps it simple, but at least it's disciplined.

Not only that, but very few programs put more players in the NFL than Iowa-Offense and Defense. Iowa is good at finding the talent other schools overlook, but Kirk doesn't surround himself with offensive coaches that get it done either.

I do think losing S&C coach Doyle in the racism/anti-sensitivity witch-hunt has hurt the team tremendously as well.
