All of this depends on why they are doing it. Just because a team wants to leave the ACC doesn't mean that all the teams in the SEC and B1G would be willing to take smaller piece of the pie to make that happen.

I agree, I think Miami might be left behind. It is SEC or bust for them.

As stated, I am not 100% sure UNC and the B1G will happen. I think UNC and SEC is just as likely.

True but keep in mind the Big12 minus OU and Texas resembles more the old Big East. It is also massively hurt by the Playoff NOT expanding. Big12 would have been in good shape if playoff had expanded.

Miami, due to travel costs, would be better off staying in the remnant of the ACC or go Independent. Then again, the new Big12 does have UCF.
 
Wait.. If Nebraska can still maintain membership without being an AAU, who's to say Miami won't get a waiver to join the BiG? They along with GT, Duke and one of VA or VA tech would be a nice addition

Neb was in AAU when they joined. They got booted after. It is absolutely a requirement per many articles on it over the years. Also, Miami and VaTech don't fit the B1G profile and I don't see they would provide enough money to get a slice of B1G pie. Everyone has to remember that in the B1G and SEC you better be able to deliver $60 million or more in value if you want in the club.

The BiG would love to have a school in the state of FL, especially one that has a name in football and baseball. They were the ones who voted against for Nebraska to keep it's AAU status, if it were that important, wouldn't they have ensured they kept it?

For that to happen, the B1G would have to want Miami. I don't see that being the cause AAU status or not.

There was nothing they could do. As I understand it, it was based on their lack of a medical school on their main campus. It's one reason that UGA won't get one ... we don't have a medical school in Athens. Georgia Medical College is in Augusta.

Other than that all I can tell you is that in every conference expansion there has been, AAU has always come up. And the B1G really prides itself on their academics.

Why does it make a rat's ass where the medical school is located? OU's medical school is located in Oklahoma City and it's got a very good reputation. But that automatically rules out Oklahoma ever becoming an AAU member? This sounds like a cheesy bunch of bastards who get in thick with a company/organization that is going to be putting out bids for something and the cheesy bastards show them how to write the bid specs so only they will qualify to get the deal. And that is illegal when they get caught, prosecuted and fined/thrown in jail.
