Clemson & Ole Miss Getting Hit Hard

If I'm him I try hiring a guy like Kendal Briles with the promise he is the future, announce he is coaching just two more years and then retire and become an analyst for the SEC Network. Stoops did it right and Dabo should use that model as I don't see him in the NFL.
Yeah I don't see him in the NFL either, but he's too stubborn to stay in CFB. TV talking head is probably the best move.

I see it like this....

Now we will learn whether Dabo truly is an "Elite" coach.

There are only a few "elite" coaches in every generation. Elite coaches move forward, put the pieces back together, and stay elite. It's just inherent to them.

There have been some great elite coaches through the decades, none better than Saban.

if i'm him, I don't take advice from a poster on hooplanation
Well if Auburn would've listen to me they would have let Arkansas hire Gus away 5 years ago.
South Carolina wouldn't have hired Muschamp.
Tennessee wouldn't have hired Pruitt.

Those mofos should be paying me for advice.

Clemson has been an oddity. They have never really had a good OL, just bad ass QBs that made them look much better than they were
It's true a QB can cover up a lot of issues. You and I are experts in that field.

Kiffin is super savvy so I expect him to hire young guys that are bang-up recruiters and two guys I'd look at for defense are:

Travis Williams
Tarvaris Robinson

Regardless Ole Miss to me is in a two-year rebuild. Matt Luke doesn't get the credit he deserves for continuing what Freeze started and under tough circumstances. I have a ton of respect for Luke.
I’ve heard Charlie Weis Jr. is a leading candidate for OC at Ole Miss.

There are without a doubt concerns. However, time after time again people have doubted whether or not he would be able to sustain it all. Shit, I've doubted some of his past hires, but all he's done is keep everything rolling. Sure there's a lot more going on this offseason. Maybe his run does slow down, but I have zero reason to doubt him at this point in time.
Dabo is without a doubt my favorite person with a Bama background. He does things the right way and believes in kids first and I have a ton of respect for that plus he has given 4 kids from my former high school an opportunity they might not have gotten. It's his resistance to the new landscape that bothers me. I think that is why so many of the coaches are seeking other opportunities because they know without the portal it's too hard to compete. Even Alabama probably has at least one more loss this year without the kids they got from the portal.

I still wont be surprised to see Ashford transfer from Oregon to Ole Miss.

I agree with a lot of what @Red_Alert says and many others. When they had Lawrence, Etienne, etc. these players might have made the O-line look okay. Then into this season, media and whoever wants to paint Uiagalelei as a Heisman front runner based on the two games last season against BC and Notre Dame. This season, and I know it was the first game, but Clemson had nothing for an elite team, then they lost a few games in ACC play, and then had a run including the bowl to reach 10 wins. For many programs, 10 wins is great, maybe even elite, but by Clemson standards and other elite programs' standards, 10 wins is barely above average. Not even making the ACC Championship game says something also for a team like Clemson. Putting the pieces back together after a mediocre 10 win season and NOW THESE COORDINATORS LEAVE. Imagine what happens next. The whole, "Aw shucks, little ol' Clemson" shit isn't gonna work anymore. This will be the first of many seasons the ACC won't make the playoff (as it is at 4 teams now) until Clemson proves it can rebuild in relation to coordinators and players or another team or two steps up to the table.

I don't think people are leaving because of the transfer portal thing (which has been overblown at times). Pretty much everyone, except Bates, left because they were getting a promotion. Venables, Roof, Turnipseed, Chavis, Elliot.

And as far as the NIL stuff, he isn't anti-NIL. He's been wary of it being the wild west with it. Which alot of people would actually agree with him if they actually listened to what he had to say, instead of the headlines. Is he stubborn in his ways? Yep.

Again, we'll see if its the downfall of him. It's always been something different. Tajh was gone. Morris left for HC job. Deshaun left. The great dline (Wilkins, Lawerence, Ferrel, and Bryant) left. Trevor left. Its always been something. This is just a new and different hurdle.

Being wary of NIL is ok, but he needs to get engaged or he going to get passed up.

Do you think players on Clemson aren't getting NIL deals? DJ had a major one. Lots of the team had stuff.

Ole Miss will be fine, Lane still is the offense. And he'll find a young DC to come on board. Durkin was fine but I don't think him leaving is a devastating loss for them.

Gotta see how Clemson responds, but in that conference, they have a lot of wiggle room. Think Dabo losing multiple coaches may have lit a real fire under his ass. We've already seen him offer kids in the portal now..

Ole Miss is in for a two year rebuild right now based on they are losing unless they get super lucky with the portal.

You think Kendall can shake the "sins of the father" stigma?

I'm sure they are. Do you not think that places like a business school that pumps out Arthur Andersen type "creative accountants" isn't going to have the best of the best in terms of how to get the most money into the best players pockets?

That's what I mean by embracing it.

Having one of the richest schools and largest NIL budgets from boosters is a little different than Dabo just "embracing it". That's not a coach thing.

He was cleared and Baylor got their ass handed to them by Art for putting the blame on him. If you look at all the people that wanted their teams to hire Hugh Freeze that basically got caught with a prostitute using a university phone and nailed by the NCAA for paying players, then I think Kendall would be fine.

Kendall is definitely someone that can be hired at this point.
