Clemson to announce ACC departure very soon

This is click-bait. They haven't escaped the GOR. I mean read the article. Who is the Clemson person quoted? No names. This is some dude reporting what another dude got told by another dude's mother-in-law.

The more I have thought about this, the more I feel the hold up on any of this is that very few of the teams in the SEC would want another loss. Brining in Clemson and FSU does nothing for teams Auburn and UF and below. No additional revenue, another loss. Who wants that?

Gotta wonder if the new TV deals are negotiated with a "if teams are added then all bets are off" clause. With the way expansion has been going lately, you'd think the conferences would try for something like that

can an admin merge this with the Pac 2 thread

You mean to tell me that adding SMU isn't going to hold the conference together?

There certainly is a way for this to come to fruition, it doesn’t appear easy or cheap as half a billion dollars is a lot of money. But nothings impossible.

If they leave then the ACC's not gonna pay them for the next 13 years as punishment.

Signed,
Big 12

Interestingly, adding SMU decreased the chance of the conference breaking up. One path was to dissolve the conference. That's virtually impossible now. No way the 3 new schools vote for it, and now that you have more teams, you need more teams to agree to dissolve. So, adding SMU did help there.

Do those teams get votes now, before they've actually joined?

I know I am saying that loosely as they have officially joined, but I think you understand what I mean in that they aren't 'technically' part of the current make up.

Well, I suppose it's possible that I could end up marrying a super model, but it won't be easy or cheap. First I have to ditch Mrs. WhosYourDawggy, and that won't be easy or cheap. Then I have to find the supermodel. That won't be cheap. So, sure, it can be done, but it ain't likely.

Don't know. I would imagine that they have some say in that their future relies on it. Maybe no. They were desperate.
