Late to the party on this one. I knew a new name was coming. But I am really disappointed. I think Michael Wilbon on PTI said it best when he said it was lazy and overly PC. I was really hoping for something that paid homage to the past or even one of the previously used nicknames. This one? Blah...

I realize that there aren't too many names that have not already been taken so there are copyright and royalties to consider, but this is just lame. I think Indians was a really cool nickname and always will. I would rather them just be the Cleveland Baseball Club instead of the guardians.

I'm not an Indians fan (my allegiance is Reds, even though I'm not really a baseball fan). I always thought Guardians would have been a decent one. The logos aren't great, though. I think there was a dude that made some a while ago that were better.

The logo just seems very minor league, if that makes sense. Another option would be to just use the block C they adopted after stopping with Chief Wahoo.

It’s literally going to take a generation or two to play out. The logo and other things can be improved with time. Delaying a new franchise name is merely being fearful of ripping off the band aid. Get moving with it.

I've always figured Washington was just trying to sell more merchandise by doing this three names in four years or whatever.

I won’t doubt that’s part of it. And maybe the short term gain is worth it in the long run. It is just a few years.

I am sure this became one of the selling points for Dan Snyder when he realized he was going to have to make a change.

Yes. Although it's unknown how much they've spent on the name change to date. Judging by the reaction, they should probably pick something else.
