What they've done the prior decade doesn't really mean much in year one, when taking over what he took over. I don't really care what happens to Colorado, and if it ends up in a dumpster fire ill laugh my ass off with everyone else. But he did improve this team from what they were last season. It doesn't mean they were good, it doesn't mean they were avg, but they were better and more competitive.

Guy has already proven himself the king of knee jerk decision making. Nobody wants to go somewhere where they'll be cast off because they made a couple of mistakes.

They were an awful team. Yes, they played a ridiculously hard schedule. But outside of the Oregon and Wazzu games they were pretty competitive even against ranked teams (Arizona and Oregon State). They weren't that last year.

Recruiting the LOS is tough in the portal, but if they can get slightly better in that regard, they'll take another step forward because they are pretty good at the skill positions.

They weren't really competitive against UCLA either, that game was 28-9 but felt a lot worse, Colorado scored a trash TD with like 2 minutes left to make it look more respectable than it was.

I'll give them credit for fighting against USC but that game was a complete blowout until USC seemingly just stopped caring late in the 4th quarter.

It was going to be hard not to be improved from that wreck that they had going on last year. Deion got enough from his QB and WR portal additions but they weren't close to legit contending like some wanted to pretend at points.

The only reason they'll maybe take a step forward is because they're going to a neutered Big 12 next year and not staying in the same conference with the other Pac-12 teams that are all leaving.

Do you not think having to play that sort of schedule took its toll on them in 2022? No wonder they were getting blown out, they started their year off by playing four straight 9-win teams and it hardly let up. When you barely get a reprieve your guys are going to be beat up and gassed every week.

Oregon was never close, USC was destroying them before laying down. Oregon St was up by 3 scores with 10 minutes left before Colorado got some garbage time points. Arizona was the only one they were truly competitive with throughout, and that team was wildly inconsistent this year. We keep talking about offensive linemen, but what sort of recruits are Oregon State and Arizona getting there? Really no excuses for all the fanfare and attention that he seems to need. They were a bad team this year.

That's true with the ucla game.

I agree, they were so awful last year it was hard not to improve, but I think they were pretty improved overall, whether this translates to more improvement or success who knows.

I get it's fun to poke fun at him, and be irritated by all the coverage, I agree it was over the top, but they were still improved IMO.

Yea they made some good efforts here and there but blowing a 29-0 lead at home to a 3-9 team and getting smashed 56-14 by a flailing 5-7 Wazzu squad lets you know they are still far away from being anything that i'd call "good". Also eeking out wins in 2OT against a below average G5 team in Colorado State and needing a last second FG to beat a awul 3-9 Arizona State team is nothing to write home about either.

I can understand your premise on the schedule taking a toll on them, but they were getting blown out in the beginning of the year too. Their schedule will be easier, but you can still evaluate them on performance regardless of schedule.

It's about what I expected. I said they'd win 3 games, they eeked out 4. The people acting like it was some ground breaking thing are the most annoying.

Like I said though, Deion is very unstable, he's liable to gut a massive portion of the roster again because things didn't end up as good as he expected them to. Going to be entertaining to watch how their offseason unfolds.
 
As I predicted, they won more than 3 games and vastly improved the locker room culture in Boulder. Prime Time
has them on the right track

Bottom line, Colorado did far better than most predicted. Good foundation to build on.

They had a major upgrade at skill positions. Shedur, Travis Hunter, even Dylan Edwards who was an ND commit until Deion took the CU job.

But he torched his OL and DL and opted for the portal. Big mistake.

He's gonna do the exact same thing this year too.

Like I noted earlier, there's zero potential for development if you are one of those guys at Colorado, he will just replace you the next year every time if the desired result isnt exactly there. That's the culture he is brewing and it's not one that's going to be a sustainable winning one.
