Coaching Carousel 2024 season

...or it took him a few years to figure out how BiG teams play.. and since he's staying in conference.. he might pay off immediately?
It would be pretty funny for Michigan to continue beating OSU with their RB coach, and Penn State to start beating OSU with their DC.

I know you don't watch the games, so news flash......Defense is not the reason Penn State has failed to beat Ohio State the last few years

Penn St will put a servicable defense every year that is what is shocking making him the highest paid coordinator in college football. They year they beat Ohio St they had Barkley and a playmaking QB, at least decent WR’s. Allar has to make a huge step and they need to add WR’s. Even saying all that, Franklin will find a way to fuck it up

Nah. Ohio States defense was not good when Knowles took over. Took him a little while to clean it up.

Penn States defense was good this past season

so who are you replacing Knowles with?? inquiring minds would like to know

Knowles is knowingly NOT a players coach, which benefits us because it's unlikely anyone worthy leaves because of this, he didn't even really have a huge hand in recruiting. PSU takes a hit in recruiting here because of that

We'd lose more guys if Tim Walton left.

Bottom line is Ohio State will be fine, Penn State giving Knowles that much money screams desperation on their part. Guy is a good DC once he has the time to get everyone in line with his system but he's not in the irreplaceable category.

Penn State is going "national title or bust" next year, and it's more than likely gonna turn up bust.

Maybe not irreplaceable but definitely very difficult to replace. The guy inherited a very bad defense. Ohio State was giving up almost 400 yards a game in '21.

His system adjusted to the players every year so I'm not sure where the "gotta get his system in place" comes from. Year 1 Ohio State took a ton of risks on defense but continued dialing it back.

Penn State already has a very good defense even with losing Abdul Carter. Knowles will have them going much faster than he did Ohio State, IMO.

Bottom line, if Ohio State doesn't make a good hire here, with what we are losing, could be a tough year next season on that side of the ball.

Texas by 16..

I just realized ya'll get Michigan and Ohio State fresh of Natty's where the next year their teams are depleted. Things just work out of Texas!

somehow those depleted teams will still be better than 3rd and 4th year rebuilding oklahoma :)

TO be fair. Michigan was a mess to start the season. Entirely new staff figuring things out, defense was a mess, offense was a mess, we were rotating through THREE different QB's in practices, and ultimately in games. The offense was still a bit of a mess at the end of the season but the defense went from having like the 131st ranked pass defense in the first 6 games to jumping all the way to finish 63rd by the end of the season. An amazing turnaround.

I don't understand why you keep claiming I don't watch the games?

Put it this way, if Penn State had held Ohio State to the 10 points Michigan did, they would have won every game dating back to 2016.

and TBF.. still better than ou who was under year 3 of a rebuild.. gonna have to wait and see what happens this fall between you two

Recruiting ain’t what it used to be. Now you just have to get them to campus (which they pay them to show up) and then negotiate their “salary”. Its not you have to convince someone to come to your school for free anymore you buying and paying for your roster now.

We're probably going to be breaking in a true freshman at QB, an away game at OU is not an ideal place to do that in game two lol

Wink (our DC) has also been linked to some NFL openings....so we may be on our 5th DC in 6 years if he bolts.
