Texas just fired, basically Sean Miller.

A coach that has an Elite Eight as is ceiling, will get you to the tourney, but will likely underachieve.

Arizona ran him off for recruiting violations.

Ran him off for recruiting violations doing shit, some of which is now legal...
 
Miller was probably fired for on the court performance. there was a dip in quality during his last three seasons. the wiretap where Miller discussed payments to players was revealed in 2018, while he wasn't fired until 2021. the whole FBI thing was a nice excuse for Zona to part ways.

i think this is both a decent and meh hire by Texas. When you coach at Arizona for twelve years, everyone knows your ceiling and floor.

They have nothing to lose.

Best case scenario for them is to become a Houston type program.

Worst case is to be right where they are now.

Might as well throw a medium amount of cash at a guy who will do anything to win, and see how it pans out for 3 years.

Most programs are in the same boat. Even Bill Self and Kansas cannot stay on top.

I personally wouldn't throw a lot of $ at anybody today. Not Self, not Hurley.

If you want guys to stick around and graduate there are guys like Painter. But Texas clearly doesn't want that

Yeah man I'm excited about it.. No more Rodney, and now the money will be rejuvenated. Think Miller will be happier than he was at Xavier coming to Austin too..

He beat RT who had the better roster too.

On a side note love how you already think he will underachieve.. :) It's a TERRIFIC omen #HookEM
 
They knocked us out of the tourney. And then we stole their coach. We cold blooded.
