I know it is early, I know that the next 2-3 weeks will be more of a measuring stick, and please forgive me, but for me, college football often times plays out like a suspense filled drama. You know the year undefeated Auburn got left out, the year Florida State went instead of Miami and Washington even though the Noles lost to Miami and Miami lost to Washington.

As of now, what do you think really happens? Not picking your favorite team to win it all when they already have 3 losses. Which four make it to the playoff, and which team emerges #1 at the end of it all?

#1. UGA(13-0) vs. #4. Cincinnati(13-0
#2. Ohio State(12-1) vs. #3. Oklahoma(12-1)

#1. UGA vs. #2. Ohio State

#1. UGA wins the CFP.

ACC & Pac 12 left out of CFP.

I pretty much agree with this. But now I really do have to wonder. Say Oklahoma loses a game, Michigan State and Michigan suffer a loss. Georgia beats Bama. Notre Dame keeps winning. Any scenario where they claw their way back into the CFP? Their only loss would be to an undefeated Cincy team.

I have highlighted the unlikely part of your scenario...beginning with UNC this weekend.

Not without a conference title. Normally NDs schedule is much stronger as well but this year it is pretty weak which doesn't help them either

That Georgia defense for Ohio State offense should be epic if it happens

Gonna be truth serum time the next few weeks, should be fun.
I could see OU dropping a game or two the way their season has went to date and I’m interested to see how much better Ohio State has gotten once they start playing teams with a pulse again, wouldn’t completely stun me to see them drop another one but at the same time, if they have gotten it together I could also see them winning out.

I feel the same way, I’ll be interested to see what the reaction is if ND runs the table, finishes with one loss to an undefeated Cincy (assuming they do too) OR 1 loss Cincy and get snubbed by the committee.
Might start hearing the drumbeat to either join or affiliate themselves with a stronger conference.

I think this is the most likely scenario.

If Alabama beats UGA, that would bump Cincy out.

I think most reasonable ND fans (at least the ones I've spoken to) realize this year's team is really not that good but expect a good record simply bc all of their "tough" games preseason turned out to be not so tough. Florida State, UNC, Wisconsin, USC, Stanford, Virginia Tech all programs that are historically pretty good or were expected to be good this year but none of them really are.

That said, I fully expect UNC to put a scare in them this week

Yeah I'd agree. A Bama win would probably be:

#1. Alabama vs. #4. Oklahoma
#2. Ohio State vs. #3. UGA

Yeah, we aren't that good. I'm guessing an 11-1 or 10-2 record only because our schedule is pretty awful. Honestly, UNC, UVA and Stanford could all put a scare on us. Hell might even lose to one of them. It sucks we don't have last year's team. I do think the top of the sport is weaker this season than the last couple, so ND would have had a good chance at winning a title this year with last year's roster. Oh well.

Yeah I'd agree. A Bama win would probably be:

#1. Alabama vs. #4. Oklahoma
#2. Ohio State vs. #3. UGA

This. But if UGA is gonna knock us out, this looks like the season to do it.

Yeah, he left Pittsburgh off!!

Man, I bet Pitt is thinking, "Look at where we would be if we would have won that game against Western Michigan". I know the ACC is weak, but still undefeated. Man, what if Oklahoma slips up and Bama loses to Georgia, and Michigan's only loss is to Ohio State the last game of the season (and like 30-24)? Ohio State wins the B1G. Two B1G teams in the CFP? Probably not, but just saying.
