Conference USA Inks Brilliant TV Deal For Next Season

If you’re a fan of midweek MACtion (and who isn’t?), you’re gonna LOVE what Conference USA has planned for next fall.

Starting in 2023, the conference – which is adding five new members over the next two seasons – will reportedly begin a five-year media rights deals with CBS Sports Network and ESPN.

Those two networks will broadcast most October conference games on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

The MAC operates under a similar model that usually begins in November. It’s glorious for all college football fans, and especially those who like to dabble in the world of gambling.

Tuesdays and Wednesdays in October are going to USA, USA, USA!!!
 
More football makes the world a better place. “Weekday C-USA” has a nice ring to it too.

So a team could theoretically play Saturday and then again on Tuesday?

In theory yes but they are going to do it mostly for conference games so I’m assuming they will all be on similar schedules so that doesn’t happen and can use byes to make sure it doesn’t.
 
From what I’ve seen of MACtion, attendance will be abysmal. Not that it is real great on Saturdays. But more eyeballs in total and I’m assuming the media money to do so is much more than the loss of ticket revenue.

It's amazing how far Conference USA has fallen as it used to be a decent G5 conference.

The Sunbelt is massively better and I wouldn't be surprised if it kept getting better and pulled ahead of the AAC in time.
 
Can’t complain about more football. Now there is a chance to have football on every day of the week. NFL fills in the gaps.

Yeah, the CUSA’s glory days were definitely 2005-2012. It was a good run.

The AAC has been the #1 G5 conf for awhile now and probably will be for the next year or so at least. The SBC will probably overtake them at some point, although mostly due to a watered-down AAC.

Liberty transitioned from FCS well. if even 1 of the 3 moving up can maintain and another minimally drops in terms of wins per season along with Western Kentucky staying up and if 1 of the up and downs schools like La tech or Middle Tenn can have more up than down then CUSA will be ok. i dont see this as some big drop from where they are currently. my opinion G5 is AAC, Mountain West, Sun Belt, CUSA, MAC. im not sure i see it changing much
