Conspiracy theories you believe

I can certainly see that perspective. In fact, didn't the crowd at the hospital where JFK had been taken erupt into cheers when it was announced Oswald was dead?

I wouldn’t doubt it. When Kennedy was killed there really was an outpouring for the guy. It’s not hard to imagine Ruby thinking he would be considered a hero for killing him.

They’ve always used “mob associate” to spool the guy up to being connected, and this being classic mob practice of cutting all strings. It not only supports the mob being in the mix on the assassination, but it negates the perceived patriot complex that probably is what drove this.

I’ve read before he had some business with the mob, but he was a lounge owner, of course he did. They had probably inserted themselves into his business like they do. But he would be more of the Copa owner in Goodfellas getting his head smashed with a bottle by Tommy, and not Tommy.

This lines up with known facts on the guy. It’s also known he was a patriotic guy. In his world it’s an eye for an eye. And so he used his ability to get close and did it.

I am. It was the perfect time as I was looking for my next read, so I sprang for it.

That’s great man! Really looking forward to your thoughts after your finished. I’ll warn you that the beginning is DRY but it’s a must read. The author painstakingly recounts Oswalds youth to the point your questioning “why do I care about this stuff?!” It’s necessary though bc it really goes to the heart of several conspiracy theories and whether or not Oswald was smart enough to pull off what he’s alleged to have pulled off. I promise that once you get past that stuff it’s a quick and interesting read.

I hope you enjoy it! :thumb:

I noted this from you before I bought it. I debated if I want to read all that dry stuff or not. But, there is a thing to be said for expectation setting, and you’ve done that well. It will keep me moving through the dry parts

I stayed out of that, and I like Hank, but man, that was along the lines of someone responding with “my mom’s dead” to try and make someone say yo mama feel bad.
I missed the situation you're referring to, but whenever someone on the internets tells me their mom is dead to try to make me feel bad, I tell them she's not really dead. She faked her death to avoid the shame of having a child like them.

I guess this one qualifies as a conspiracy theory bc the government hasn’t come out and explicitly said “this is what happened” but bits and pieces of this theory have been confirmed over the years.

It’s about the motive behind the Boston Marathon Bombings. Why did those two brothers do it? The story goes like this:

A Boston reporter gathered documents thru the freedom of information act wrote a book entitled “Mayhem” which theorized about the motive for the marathon bombings. It’s been a while since I’ve read it but here’s how it goes.

Tamerlan (the older brother) was a boxer. His dream was to be a US Olympic boxer but he wasn’t a US citizen. Anyway, he starts training with a mixed martial artist who lived in Waltham (a suburb of Boston). Each is training the other in their fighting styles and they quickly become very good friends. One day the mixed martial artist is killed in his apartment in Waltham along with two other guys. It was a strange murder which remains unsolved even today. There were no signs of forced entry and there was marijuana and money literally thrown all over the apartment. Also, all three were beaten to death. This signified to police that the killer(s) knew the occupants of the apartment because they were let in. That the motive for the killing was NOT robbery because the cash and marijuana were everywhere and it was very very personal because they were beaten to death. When it came time for the funeral Tamerlan didn’t attend even though they were very close. This seemed odd to the dead guys mother. The fact is, visa records indicated that Tamerlen had left the US and returned to his homeland country one week after this murder.

Tamerlan stayed in his home country for a few years. During this time, he’s going to different mosques and gets on the radar of CIA officials working in that part of the world. Records show that Tamerlan begins working with the CIA as an informant. He is giving the US government information about these Muslim terrorists with whom he is interacting. Tamerlan does this for several months and actually makes contact with a hard core group that lives in a remote area outside of town. Over the next few weeks Tamerlan visits this group, stays for a few days and returns to town. He goes back and forth between this group in the woods and town a few times. On one occasion he visits the group but then leaves and shortly and after he leaves this group is wiped out by special forces who are tipped off to their position. The theory is Tamerlan was the informant who tipped off the US government as to this groups location and he left just before the raid that wiped them out.

Shortly after this incident, Tamerlan leaves his country and comes back to the US. Despite him being on a terrorist watch list he breezes thru immigration without any issues and is given entry back into the US. Within weeks of re-entering the US he applies for citizenship and on his application it lists the CIA as supporting his petition. Problem for Tamerlan is citizenship is controlled by homeland security not the CIA. Records show that homeland security denied his citizenship request because he’s on a terrorists watch list. In fact, one day, a few weeks before the bombing, Tamerlan goes to the Boston Homeland security office thinking he’s gonna get his petition approved only to find out it’s been denied. (Again ALL the documents that prove this were secured via a FOIA request. These events are all documented).

Tamerlan realizes he’s been fucked over by the CIA. They didn’t get him what he was promised (citizenship so he can become an Olympic boxer) in exchange for gathering all that intel for them. He’s pissed off. So what does he do? He gets his brother to help him with the marathon bombings.

After the bombings took place the younger brother was caught. They do a deep dive on him. They find out all kinds of stuff about him. One thing they found was that he was a major pot dealer at his college. Where did he get his marijuana from? They trace his supplier back to the guy who was killed in that apartment in Waltham. Police quickly realize that Tamerlan found out this guy was selling pot to his younger brother so he goes to the apartment and, of course, he’s let in. Once inside Tamerlan (who is a fighter) quickly ties up the other guys and beats them to death. He then throws the marijuana and money all over the apartment because he’s pissed off.

The book she wrote is called “Mayhem”. She’s also written another book about who may have helped them make the bombs. I haven’t read that one.

That seems pretty well backgrounder with public info. Not a lot to take a baseless leap on, this can be stood on.

But, hell, I’m in a conspiracy theory thread, so…..what if this was only part of the story? And, no, I’m not saying what if this was all deftly done to make him into some false flag operator. I’m not one of those guys.

But, I’m reading the JFK book you suggested and it mentioned how some theorists latch onto the trouble Oswald got into in the Marines. How that’s exactly the kind of opening the CIA uses to flip people. So, what if this kid was on their radar right after the murders? Or at least put it all together once they caught his scent outside of the US?

You flip him to suss out some terrorist camps. No biggie. They are terrorists with plans to hurt people. But that’s how we think of it….it might not be how he thought of it. So he’s in a rough spot and has a possible US citizenship as a reward at the end.

He might have walked terrorists to their death by ratting. But he might see it as sentencing people like him. Maybe he caught some of that carnage that raid produced. Then he comes back and it’s “fuck off, you don’t get citizenship”.

It’s a raw deal. It doesn’t even begin to condone his actions. But, it is a raw deal and could unhinge someone.

Remind me….I remember the brother being caught under the boat in Watertown….what happened to Tamerlan? Killed by police? His own hand?

the author who wrote the book is pretty well known in Boston. She dug dip for that book. Her follow up to that book was about who helped the brothers make the bomb. Again, I haven’t read that one.

I agree. It was a raw deal. Still no excuse but could easily serve as a motive for what happened.

The brothers were spotted by a cop in Watertown (a suburb of Boston) driving a stolen Mercedes SUV. When the cop attempted to pull them over the brothers jumped out of the car and started shooting. It was a massive gun battle and it took place in a residential neighborhood! Tamerlan told his brother to get in the SUV and drive away. He did but had to double back down the same street where his brother was engaged in a gun battle. He actually ran over his brother and killed him as he escaped.

he ditched the car and hid in a boat that was winterized with a cover that was in a guys backyard. Cops searched all day for him while residents sheltered in place. As the sun was setting residents were told they could go outside. The boat owner went into his backyard and noticed the cover was slightly off the boat. When he looked closer he saw blood and the younger brother hiding inside. He had been wounded in the gun battle. The boat owner called the cops who were still in the area and they caught him

He was shot by police.

Who say his brother than ran him over and dragged him down the street.

ER doctors say otherwise.

@Orlando_Eagles

here’s the shoot out scene in Watertown. The brothers were actually in two different cars but one was the stolen black Mercedes…

Here’s the younger brother caught in the boat..

I never saw this. I just remembered some helicopter with infrared showing the brother hiding in the boat.

The shootout scene is insane. Just wonder how much of it is Hollywood work. Would have loved to have body cams so prevalent back then.

Yeah. I just googled some on that. What I did find with the head of the ER saying he had penetrating wounds all over his body. Didn’t say anything about injuries that would come from a Mercedes SUV going over you.

So…he was clearly shot multiple times. Boo hoo at that point. He made it clear that was the only way it was ending

Whether the brother hit him on the way back is moot to me.

Several people have stated the cops hit him with a car during or prior to the shootout.

Doesn’t really matter how he died. Wish his brother was dead too. But doesn’t surprise me that Boston authorities made shit up to make terrorists look even worse.

As far as the JFK assassination, I just can't get over the fact they turned right onto Houston and left on Elm instead of just continuing down Main and looping around to get to Stemmons Frwy.

The author talked about that. If I remember correctly they were going somewhere and if they had continued straight on Main they couldn’t have made the turn after the triple underpass that they needed to so had to get to Elm st. Again, it’s been a while but that’s my memory. @Orlando_Eagles will tell us soon enough. Haha.

They could have, they would have had to drive past Stemmons Frwy and loop back, simple enough. It seems odd the secret service would allow the car to turn like that especially onto Elm because it was more than a 90 degree turn, the car nearly had to stop to make that turn. Also the car would not have been back up to speed by the time it was in range for a shot from the grassy knoll.
