LMAO. Sad Michigan fans always talk about 'gifts' when no one outside of Michigan thinks they would have stood a chance against Nebraska. A gift is claiming 11 national titles when 4 of them were before passing was a thing, 8 of them were before the AP even existed, the NCAA even only recognizes 9 - and all but 4 of those were split titles. Michigan has been riding the coattails of a time before the Titanic sank, of a time when the Ottoman Empire still existed for decades on decades. In the past 72 years, Michigan has claim to 2 national titles... and one of those they split with us.

Playing bad offenses tends to skew the defensive numbers.

they also conveniently ignore that Michigan struggled with 7-6 Notre Dame + were trailing heading into the 4th quarter against 7-5 Iowa. Iowa and Notre Dame both finished the season unranked.
Sure, the ending to regulation of Nebraska/Missouri was BONKERS, but Nebraska got the job done at the end of the day.
fwiw, Missouri finished the season ranked #23 in both major polls.
The wild part about all of this is that Michigan is probably named consensus national champions if they didn't struggle so much against Washington State. The following day, Nebraska absolutely annihilated a Tennessee team that featured Peyton Manning, who everyone presumed was going #1 overall in that year's NFL draft.
