Netflix releases first look at 'Cowboy Bebop'

Netflix's live-action "Cowboy Bebop" is right around the corner and the streaming network has just released a first look.

They kind of missed the mark on Faye's look, but whatever.

I’m not big on live action versions of cartoons. Cartoons have more freedom. ATHF was the only one to pull it off and it was just for a single 12 minute episode

I mean, it's not much different than taking a science fiction book and making it into a movie...

and with technology today, they can put just about anything into a show.

Cowboy Bebop is about bounty hunters in space...there isn't really anything all that outlandish about it.
 
Based on images provided that woman's breasts are not big enough for this role.

Faye, like a lot of anime women, are over the top sexualized. They're never gonna cast a live action person that gets close to that "look". For one, the body proportions on a lot of anime women aren't real, And the outfits are often ridiculous and not practical for a person to wear (stuff with be poking out constantly).


But beyond that, I've got my doubts this is gonna work. Anime to live action is just really hard to pull off.

have you watched the cartoon?

there really isn't anything in it that can't be done in live action. Hardest thing might be the spaceship stuff and that's not that big a deal. Otherwise, it's a modern samurai sci fi story

watched the first episode last night...and I can't say I am really all that into it...

Not too familiar with this. Think I saw a movie they did. Dug it at the start. Seemed cool, but got bored of it quickly. I'm sure the books or cartoon series or whatever it's based off is better. Probably eventually check this out. Like John Cho, was disappointed when the exorcist series was canceled
 
Seen half the episodes. I like it quite a bit. It's not the anime, but its basically impossible to capture the feel of "anime" in live action. The show comes fairly close while still having its own sort of charm. I'm not entirely sure a person that hasn't seen the source material will like it, but I think its pretty fun.

I agree...and the anime has a lot of dramatic pauses and lulls, which doesn't translate to live action. They will a lot of that with jokes or jabs between Spike and Jet and Val, which is fine. The cartoon wasn't always heavy on the dialog.

Yeah, I tried watching this and could not get hooked.

I liked the concept.
I like John Cho and Daniela Pineda.
But Jet Black seemed a little wooden and I'm not sure if he's supposed to be like that because of the anime.

I might get back to it...but I just don't know.

in the meantime, watching Arcane, which is really good.

might catch up on Wheel of Time before that too

I tried watching Arcane.

Started off pretty good.
Love Shohreh Aghdashloo's voice.
But, I started losing interest after that initial heist scene.

I'm going to wait for all the episodes to come out before I watch Wheel of Time.
Same with Money Heist.

I think it gets good in episode 4, which is like 10 yrs later where the girls are grown.

the first 3 set up the world building and the relationship between Vi and Powder
 
Well shit.

Netflix cancelled it.

Bummer. I liked the show and the direction it was going in.
