Curious how the CFP would handle this

I don’t have a problem with the byes themselves, but winning a shitty conference shouldn’t get you one.
The Champions of the P4 get bye ... that would have been Oregon, Georgia, Arizona State and Clemson.

Having a Bye Week give you a huge advantage (as it should).

I'm not so sure they will get rid of the you have to be a conference champ to get a BYE stipulation. They still want conference title games to really matter, doing that takes away from them a bit.

The only fix is to eliminate the top 4 AQ's getting a bye. Which I'm all for then ND can be top 4 and get a bye.
But that is on a little shakier grounds with how well ASU played, right? And, in most years, that 4th spot will be Clemson/FSU/Maimi and not SMU/BSU. In my opinion, they should just let it play out.

Oregon got screwed by the fact that tOSU lost to UM, not because ASU and BSU got auto-byes. Teams that get in and win their Conference Championships should get a bye.

You could also argue that the problem is that rust is worse than rest.

But, UGA absolutely needed the rest, no matter that we might be rusty.

I hope they don't make a change next year ... let things percolate a bit. Change in 2026.

I hope there are writers out there who see the potential and vote Oregon #1 at playoffs end. I think doing so could shine the light on this flawed playoff setup. If there were a couple AP voters who voted Oregon #1 it would generate the discussion that badly needs to be discussed.
This is so dumb. You got your ass kicked. Deal with it. You are out, and no one other than you will even thinking about Oregon going forward. You had your chance and you blew it. It happens.

Congratulations on getting the #1 overall seed and being undefeated all year, now go play road games against all your competition. Horse shit
"go play road games like everyone else is going to have to do, but you get to do it on extra rest and prep".

When is the OP going to realize that the reason his team lost isn't because of the bye, it's because the band wasn't close enough to the field.

Problem with that is not all conferences are created equal. We’re down to five teams: 2 from the SEC, 2 from the B1G and one independent. I think most of us would have predicted this (although some idiots might have said it’d be Oregon over Ohio State). No one thought that Boise, Clemson, SMU, et al had a realistic chance. So you reward a team who comes in first playing against Little Sister Mary’s Typing and Handjob Academy ten times over a team that finishes second against a tough schedule?

A bracket clearly flawed.

I've never seen it where the best team and only unbeaten team gets the hardest path to the championship game, this isnt how playoff seeding works.
UGA and Oregon both got byes to rest up.

You played 6 and would have played 3. We play 5 and then play 4. The paths seem the same.

The problem is you ran into the 6th ranked team who is probably the best team playing right now. It happens in all sports. You then played like shit. Who knows, maybe UGA plays like shit but that will be on us.

That first round game is like a scrimmage, a much needed scrimmage after having a month off. Please give me SMU round 1 in Autzen. I'd take that along with any other Duck
It's funny to see OD wishing for more games when their pussy-ass WR got hurt warming up against his own team. :pound:

Yeah, they could handle an extra game when...checks notes...they get hurt while stretching.

But, ASU played no. 3 Texas as close as you can, and in most years, the ACC champ will be a better team than we saw this year, and it won't be the P5 team getting the bye.

ASU's game may make them slow down on the whole "get rid of CC byes" thing.

Oh of course, we all know that, and i'm sure the CFP people also know it but does not mean they are going to admit it. They might eventually get rid of it but I doubt it's going to be before like 5 or so years.
