80 years ago today my Grandpa stormed the beaches of Normandy, to help secure the freedom of the countries that were invaded by the little Nazi dictator. The Americans beat his ass all the way back to Ketrzyn. Where he took the cowards way out.

What was the fate of your grandpa?

That's today? I thought it was tomorrow....

Didn't have a relative at D-Day, but my Uncle was on a troop ship in the Pacific, heading for Japan, when they dropped the bomb on Hiroshima.

Imagine getting that call? You are scared shitless about what you know is waiting for you and then KABOOM!

Also while D-Day was immense and crucial, it was just the beginning of the Battle for France. It took another 85 days to drive the Germans from Northern France. I highly recommend checking out the rest of the fight for Normandy.

A great read on the subject is "Sand and Steel" by Peter Caddick-Adams.

There's a fair bit of evidence to support that that fucker didn't die in that bunker, and made his way to South America. He had a fuck of a lot of back up escape plans and tunnels.

I bet June 5th was a busy day for British hookers.

You mean like the documentary The Boys from Brazil?

Neither of my grandfathers had that honor, though they both served in the Pacific. One of them narrowly avoided being killed on the Franklin, or else I wouldn't be here today.

I watched a documentary on the History Channel called "Hunting Hitler". It was fascinating. In the end, a retired FBI officer joined the team and after viewing all the evidence, agreed that he probably escaped the bunker.
