Schrader had been in decline for years, and Sterling Marlin experienced a late career resurgence after Dale died. He was leading the points in 2002 when he broke his neck in a crash, which really saw the decline of Marlin’s career.

As for Schrader, who had gone winless for 10 straight seasons prior to 2001, had a season that was on par with his prior few seasons in 2001. 2002 was pretty bad, but Schrader was a mid pack driver that hadn’t been relevant in years
