Let's break it down:

- Deshaun is upset that Houston hired their new GM by circumventing the committee they established to find one and Watson was a part of that group. To be fair he isn't the only one upset but is getting most of the headlines but the reputation of Houston being a team that wastes careers is getting a lot of ink.

- People who are supposed to be extremely knowledgable are now coming out and saying it is 50/50 that Houston and Watson separate.

- Houston is looking for a HC but honestly with the Watson drama it's going to be tough to land a coach especially with the draft issues that Houston faces. The only way to rectify that is to trade Watson and get some picks back and start rebuilding.

So do you see Watson leaving and who do you think lands him? I've read several scenarios and the one that makes the most sense is Miami because they have the cap space, currently own some of Houston's picks anyway and can put Tua in the deal. Miami would have to dig deep but for Watson it would be worth it.

I like the Miami scenario, primarily because it keeps Watson off the Bears.

One interesting scenario that hasn't been talked about is: Brees retires and New Orleans goes after Watson. Sean Payton + Watson would be scary.

Miami seems to be the only team with enough to offer Houston while also putting Watson on a team that is an instant contender, making him happy as well. Washington would be another team that he could make a big impact for but I don't think they can offer Houston enough

Saints are in a pretty bad place cap wise, I though something like $95 million over cap for next year. Don’t think could afford Watson

The only realistic options at this point:

Miami - Tua and draft picks, along with the #3. Would be ideal and Miami is a playoff caliber team with the missing link being the QB

NY Jets - Yeah they have a lot more issues than QB. Ton of cap space and valuable picks + the #2. That could entice Houston to select Wilson or Fields or they could include Darnold. Watson probably wants to go to a playoff caliber team so I could see him saying no thanks but in the end if Houston thinks that is best for their organization than they are definitely in play.

Indy - they have cap space but the draft capital isn't what NY and Miami can offer. They would have to give up either more future picks and/or a young, promising player.

Watson makes less than Brees. Didn't look at the hard numbers, though.

Also, not sure NO has the capital HOU would want, but the point really was that Watson could turn into a legit HOFer under Sean Payton. Not so sure that would happen in Miami.

Saints are around -100M so even without the 36M for Brees they are in deep. I'm not sure how many FA's they have and all that but they also don't have the draft capital. It would take a miracle.

damn, ninja'd! i was literally about to post "could you imagine Watson in Saints black and gold with Payton??"

Brees looked his age last night.

The Niners would be a better fit for him.
I agree that SF would be a better landing spot for Watson than MIA from Watson's perspective, but it's not better from a Packers fan's perspective.

I saw somewhere that Brees would still be a $22 million dead money hit to cap even if retires so still gonna really hurt the Saints cap

Has Miami soured on Tagovailoa?

Miami or the NY Jets.

SF as a wild card.

I would be shocked if Houston willingly handed over Watson to one of their divisional rivals. So I think we can scratch Indy off that list.

Would they put the franchise tag on him?
