This is becoming an interesting question because the B1G does not seem interested:

The SEC does not seem interested:

There are even rumors that FSU and Clemson have had talks with the Big 12 which if true is pretty shocking. I think what we are seeing is that both the B1G and SEC realize that at their current size, it is going to be really hard to get additional money to pay new members and that there are only so many time slots available to air games.

Now all this could be smoke an mirrors so that it doesn't seem like they are tampering but when you weigh the pros and cons does additional expansion make sense? I honestly don't think it does.

I believe FSU and Clem talking to the B12 is smoke and mirrors to gauge if that would get B1G (Clemson not getting in there) or SEC interest.

The only way Clem or FSU would join the B12 is if the B12 would pay them SEC money. There were a couple ideas floating around X on how but nothing seemed believable to happen.

It's sure as hell fun watching the delusional FSU tards on X thinking they are already gone from the ACC. A side laugh for USF clowns thinking the B1G may come calling lololol

The USF people on X make me think they needed more kick me signs on their backs back in school. Saying dumb shit 24/7 with no pushback whatsoever.

But yeah, the FSU and Clemson folks insisting that it was SEC/BIG 10 or bust didn't really think it through if they thought there was just infinite FOX/ESPN money and it was a shoe-in they'd be the top 'free agents' on the market.

I don’t think it is smoke and mirrors mainly because of what you point out. Already enough marquee match ups to fill the prime time slots.

Only smoke and mirrors may be them talking to the Big 12. Even if the Big 12 added them it still wouldn’t increase revenue to come anywhere close to B1G/SEC money imo.

I guess my question is if Scheer's report is accurate, who else is coming with Clemson and FSU? I have a tough time believing it'd just be those two.

Would be a 4 team add? 6?

Yormak would have to pay them waaaay more than anyone else is making. Its nit practical, especially if one or both don't pull their weight.

The basic contradiction for me is this was never about competition, but about eyeballs, but it's also anti-competition. There is no universe where Indiana, Minnesota, [insert middling BIG school here] is more valuable than Florida State. Florida State doesn't fit as easily as people think when you factor in this was never about free competition and the creme of the crop per se. It's about money yes, but it's anti-competitive in nature.

Though I am sure lawyers will pout and say it's not anti-competitive or some ish.

I don't see how it's accurate. Really feels like NCst and VPI wouldnt leave the ACC if UNC and UVA remain. And theoretically they seem like some of the best candidates to join. Louisville would probably join tomorrow if they could. Others??? Miami, GT, Pitt. Not sure how they'd feel academically

Greg Swaim is an idiot. He's wrong 90% of the time he opens his mouth. The other 10% he's eating.

That said, the most logical thing here is that the SEC and the B1G have said to FSU/Clemson, get free and then we can talk. In the meantime, we are busy incorporating our new teams.

With regard to tampering, I am confident the B12 has plenty of proof as to what the SEC did and they aren't worried about it. When everyone tries to screw everyone else, kind of hard to be the victim.

Really too early. My guess is UNC is the top target in SEC land, not FSU and Clemson, and some folks with the latter two schools need to cope with the implications of that. But really we don't know shit and this could all be moot in a week, a year, or whatever. Speculation sucks.

I will say Scheer is a lot more interesting to have heard this from than Swaim. Swaim would repeat the dumbest shit you've ever heard of in your life if he had an ounce of access.

I have repeatedly stated that most schools in the SEC likely don't want two more teams coming in better than them. If we can say there is a Big 8 in the SEC - UGA, Bama, Auburn, Tenn, Texas, OU, LSU, and ATM - then certainly the Little 8 want nothing to do with adding 2 more teams like FSU and Clemson. And, I am being generous with the Big 8 - you could argue that Auburn, UF, ATM, and UTjr don't want two teams in that are currently better than them. I just don't see it.

Here are some current SEC schedules, with an 8 game IC schedule. Imagine what it would be like with a 9 game IC schedule. These schedules don't include UF and ATM who can be really good teams in up years. Now add Clemson and FSU. What teams would vote for that?

UGA - @Bama, @Texas, @Ole Miss / UTjr
Bama - UGA, @LSU, @OU / UTjr, Mizzou
UT - OU, UGA - sheesh.
OU - UT, @Ole Miss, Bama, @LSU / UTjr, Mizzou
Ole Miss - @LSU, OU, UGA
LSU - Ole Miss, @Bama, OU
UF - UGA, @UT, LSU, Ole Miss
UTjr - @OU, Bama, @UGA
AU - OU, @UGA, @Bama / @Mizzou
USCjr - LSU, Ole Miss, @Bama, @OU / Mizzou

Nobody wants them. They're not the draw they see themselves as. They should both just stay put, because they are more likely to get into the playoffs from the ACC than either the B1G or $EC.

I think the conversation changes drastically once FSU and Clemson leave the ACC. Once they become available, we will see how interested the Big Ten and SEC are. There are some smart people who think the FSU/Clemson to the Big 12 thing has legs. I'm honestly shocked by that but we'll see how it plays out.

Oh and FSU won't be in the ACC by 2026. Argue with your mommas

would it still be more than what they are making in the ACC? as far as I know the 2 conference are making about the same right now per school. so a move by those 2 would likely move the Big XII deal up

Yeah, seems like the XII and the ACC are comparable in terms of talent. More like a lateral move for FSU and CU. Both conferences are cobbled together by rejects of other defunct conferences.

If their only landing spot is the Big 12 then no way they buy themselves out of the ACC by 2026. That would be insane.

Lmaaaaaaaaaaao that's a real thing? I can think of a very long list of programs the B1G would take before USF.

i would be interested to know what the value of the ACC would be today if it werent for the rediculous contract and GOR they are in would be. more than now? which would then be more than the Big XII. also wonder how much those 2 schools alone would add to the current Big XII
