Do FSU & Clemson Have A Landing Spot?

Nebraska has a great med school (UNMC), but still lost their AAU status because AAU changed their requirements to it having to be on campus.
UNMC's campus is in Omaha.
Nebraska lost the AAU status because AAU changed the criteria and removed agricultural grants from the formula and once they did that Nebraska couldn't qualify anymore.

It's BS and anti-argicultural, which one would think all academic entities would celebrate due to the importance of those programs. If the AAU is going to hate on farmers then fuck em.

Per the Nebraska head guy:

Perlman said at the time that factors going against Nebraska included the system’s organizational structure, “with separate flagship and medical campuses,” as well as its focus on being a comprehensive university and the devaluation of agricultural research—a strength for Nebraska—in the AAU membership. Perlman wrote a public letter arguing that the AAU prioritized “institutions narrowly focused on disciplines qualified for federal research dollars.”

Ag had something to do with it, but all the articles at the time pointed to the med school being in Omaha and not in Lincoln.

Devaluing agriculture is bullshit and the AAU can suck it. The American farmer is a hero to the world and no one does it better.

Institutions should get bonus points for supporting farming. You can find ways to live without Doctors and Lawyers but do away with farmers and majority of us are in really bad shape.

Law schools have never been important to AAU as they don't drive research dollars. AAU is about 1 thing - can you drive research dollars. Med schools do, ag schools don't.

FWIW, AAU may lose a lot of luster for at least the next 4 years. I have a feeling all the billions they have been getting may be coming to an end for a while.

The administrative cost percentage many of them take off the top of the grant is ridiculous imo.

AAU schools took a vote whether if NU was going to keep it.. despite all the negative narratives NU said about Texas during that time.. UT voted FOR them to keep it's status.. however their new neighbors in the BiG didn't

Which is one of the many things the DOGE stuff is showing. This is not politically just a fact that they are going to get a lot of their funding taken away because of what you point out and because they will need to really show all this research is worth it.

Maybe we should research how to get healthier food in our bodies and we wouldn't need to research how to cure so many things

No doubt it is a huge problem for our country. We are a bunch of fat fucks. It's one of the main drivers of medical costs - obesity and dependence.

This, and the availability and affordability of the unhealthy food is so much easier than healthy

ACC caved on the buyout, as I expected. They'll be in the P2 soon though, as I've said the whole time
