Do watches still serve a purpose?

I've worn a watch for most of my life.

But the last few years, I've rarely worn it or other jewelry, as if gets uncomfortable shortly if the temperature gets too warm or too cold.

I'm not ready to go to a smart watch. It feels like being too connected.

Also, I think the android watches kind of suck

If you go the Android route and don't want a Samsung get one with the new snapdragon 4100 chipset. Android based watches have sucked for a long time because they had shitty chips in them. Qualcomm actually released a decent one this year though so look for that one. Unless something has changed extremely recently, mobvoi's tic watch pro 3 is the only one that has it. I bought it a few months ago and like it.

it's a tool
Maybe if it has pressure and temperature readings and whatnot. I am indifferent to watches but to the most part they are just jewelry at this point.

it tells time

it's a tool

it might be an outdated tool, but still a tool

I look like less of an obvious douche sneaking a look at my watch in a meeting though
But you look like a douche in general if you’re under 80 and wear a watch. Our meeting room has a clock on the wall as well

Probably mentioned but formality reasons are still big.

Watches are outfit accessories for more formal occasions even if they aren't used, especially if you're in a spot where you can't check your phone for time for one reason or another.
