I particularly liked that episode with the angel statues where the story followed some girl named after a bird and the Doctor and Martha only appeared in recording or some such. I think they won an award for that episode IIRC. This was good Doctor Who writing.

The Weeping Angels are definitely the best new villainous species.

Carey Mulligan was considered the front runner to be next Dr. Who companion because of her performance in this but she declined.

The show had quite an amazing run with Tennant, Smith, and Capaldi. A good part of that is because of Rose, Donna, Amy, and Clara as companions. Have to give credit to Davies and Moffat as showrunners as well.

As great as Tenant and Smith were, you really do need to put most of the credit at the feet of Davies and Moffat. They kept the story moving and had an absolute epic payoff in the 50th special. Unfortunately, just about everything post 50th has been a train wreck.
