I agree. We should never give up on people . We are all very strong .
One of my best friends in high school got strung out on meth in his 20s and was selling a bunch of it and spent several years in prison because of it.
Ran into him many years later and he had gotten himself clean. He is a good soul and I'm glad he got himself clean.
