I liked Hepuel well enough when he was at UCF. Forgot this is where he went. Glad to see him rise up and slay the big dragon.
 
By the way, I didn't complain about the Heupel hire at all, I was glad he took the job after how bad it looked at the time. I had no idea he would beat Florida and Alabama in year 2 though.

I started to fall in love with him a little in the offseason based on how he approached comments, feedback, etc. He just sounded better than the coaches we got in the past.

However, I never envisioned this in my wildest dreams. I was thinking we would have to be patient and year two would be 8-4 or 9-3 at best.

Yeah, you guys beat Ohio State in a 6-6 game but you also had a long losing streak before that as well so you had one win in about 15-16 years of losses in a row too.
 
I can't recall a time Bama fans ever rushed the field.

Not trying to take anything away from TN, but I wouldn't use this game as a measuring stick for your offense. This is not the Saban/Bama defenses of years past. Any good offense is going to put up the numbers you guys did

Honestly, I am already happy with this season. We beat Alabama and Florida. Alabama was just icing on the cake. We are trying to build recruits and our program back. This is only 2 years after arguably the lowest point in our program's history. Heupel is WAY ahead of schedule. I don't think we are title contenders and that doesn't bother me.

The Vol offense is good, but on what other team have they hung 51 or more points other than nobody teams like Ball State?

Bama's defense is beyond awful.

It is just a game, rivalries are fun but it doesn't need to lead to that hostility. I was on the end of an attack like that with Georgia fans when they beat us once in Neyland.

Granted, we may not know the entire story.

Not to take anything about from Heupel, but what expedited the improvement is Hendon Hooker.

He is the reason Tennessee is where they are right now.

True but he may not have been the coach he is today if not for all those events as well. Life is funny like that.

Agree but he went out and got Hooker. Virginia Tech was apparently not doing anything with Hooker.

It is like Cedric Tillman who had 6 catches under Pruitt. I think Heupel is great at developing players with his offense. Something we have lacked with our other coaches.
