Saban was completely out of left field as there was no talk of him even thinking about retiring... Interesting timing for Saban

I think the whole NIL thing took the spirit out of him at his age.

Yeah I just saw it scroll on the screen that he was "Frustrated with the state of the game."

There's also chatter that his wife was diagnosed with dementia near the start of the season, so that may have played a factor as well.

I know what must be going through his mind then since my mom was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's

Family means everything!

That’s awful if true.

Put $20 down on the Rockets money line at the start of the 4th quarter last night w a 25% bonus boost. They hit a 3 to tie the game at 112-112 as time expired sending into OT. They offered me a cash out at $120 before OT started and I took it, Rockets end up losing the game anyways.

Doesn’t get much better than that.

I'm not a gambler at all so this is all well over my head

Fan Duel offers in-game cash out options. What this means is that if you’re up (in a good position to win) they will offer you a cash out option over what you bet. In my case, $120. Had Houston won the game my winnings would have been double that ()240). Basically Fan Duel paid me $120 to bow out early to avoid paying me another $120 had I won (on a game I would have lost anyways).

I do this a lot and it adds up fast.

Now you can cash out BELOW what you bet as well, if you’re in the position to lose, save some face and not lose all your money.

But the idea is to identify games where one team is in the position to win, get that cash out option and take it. Obviously if your chances to win the grand total is strong (like Michigan vs Washington was late) then you ride it out and accept your total winnings. But you really have to know when to bail and not get greedy.

In other words Fan Duel makes out big time regardless

I'm currently in Alabama, learned of Saban 13 minutes after it happened from the server in the bar, it was a funny place to be.

I imagine it had to be similar to when Barry retired. That was an uncomfortable jolt.
