ESPN & FOX Agree To Start Early Big 12 Deal Talks

I sure hope the Big 12 doesn't expect OU to take less money once the new 4 teams come on board.
this announcement is for the new contract.. have no idea how they divide the next two seasons with 4 added schools.. thankfully our 3rd tier $$$ they can't touch

if the math says 33 per school at current adding 2 pac schools drops that to 28.5 and 4 schools drops to 25. so unless the pac gets a deal that pays significantly less and the other schools are willing to take 5mil or more less not sure that happens
That's not the way it works. No one is stupid enough to sign that contract. They will either (1) add a per capita increase for new schools, or (2) renegotiate if new schools are added. If, for example, they add the 4 corner schools, it likely would be a per capita increase. If they added Oregon or Washington, who would draw more eyeballs and revenue they might renegotiate.

Folks ... this is just the media rights. There is still bowl money, and CFP money. I have posted the total revenue per team will be in the $50 million range, and I've seen several articles to back that up.

yeah.. I'm comparing the old media contract to this new one..

old one with UT and ou>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>this new one

Do they have a choice?

They can bolt to the SEC next season, but the Big 12 would get their SEC payments for 2023/2024.
I can't think of a reason how UT or ou will make the same.. it still will be a lot more than any of the other schools get, thanks to LHN and soonervision or whatever it's called.. Big12 gets no part of those deals. I wonder if they atleast are taxing the new schools for joining them the way the BiG did to it's additions last realignment

The current Big 12 media rights deal doesn't expire until after the 2024/2025 academic year.

Adding 4 teams to the pool next year will likely give TX/OU and the Angry 8 a mild haircut.
