ESPN Power Index says Nebraska is favorite to win the West.

Several of the 12-0, 11-1 and 10-2 G5 teams could very well finish 7-5 if they were in a P5 league...which means they beat the bottom half of such leagues.

But so could a couple of the P5s if they played an SEC schedule...if that schedule wasn't full of the lower level SEC schools. What would Michigan's record have been playing such an SEC schedule last year? What would Baylor's record have been? How about Utah's record?

I feel like the Power 5 gap isn't as great. So Baylor would be at worse 9-3 in the SEC. Michigan would still have been in the top half of the SEC but probably would be 10-2/9-3 as well depending on schedule. However, take UTSA who went 11-2, no way they are close to that in the SEC. They are likely 7-5 at best.

However, there are some non-Power 5 leagues that are strong than others. I do think the Mountain West and American are stronger leagues and would be more competitive even with Power 5 schedule.

My point was that Pittsburgh is NOT necessarily in the 10 best teams in the country but has great chance to finish in top 10 based on softer schedule.

So, the only question is Does the CFP invite 2 SEC teams or 3?

I assume you mean if Baylor and Michigan played in the SEC. I would say at least 3: Alabama, Georgia, and Michigan.

SEC, the Thanos of college football. They only stay with the P5 in order to soak up the glory.

Heck....One could argue Nebraska and some of the other P5's would finish 7-5 in a few of the G5 conferences.

He clearly drew the line at 7-5.

Where did you get that he implied better than that?

Yep, I agree. UTSA would have finished about 7-5. So did Tennessee (7-6) in the SEC East and Miss State (7-6) in the SEC West.

Not every post is arguing with people. I agreed with him for most part. My point is that when you look at ranking teams, there are actually multiple methods to rank teams. (Projection vs. Schedule or how you see them stack up against all teams in the nation).
