If the ball is touching foul, but part of the SPHERE is over the chalk line, if the fielder touches it then: do you consider that fair or foul? That’s the fifth time I’ve had to write that for you.

I don’t think it ever touched it either. But the right side of the ball looks like it’s over the line. If any portion of the ball is over the line when touched, it’s fair.

It doesn’t have to actually hit chalk.

The chalk is the like the foul pole. It goes up, into infinity.

If the ball bounds close to third base on its way foul, what makes it fair as it passes in the air?
It’s whether or not the ball goes over third base right? Is it the bottom point of the ball, or any part of the ball that matters here? It’s any part, right.
Same if a fielder catches a bounding ball in the air close to the chalk line. Any part of the ball being over the chalk line makes that ball fair.
So, if any part of the ball rolling on the ground is over the chalk line, I’d judge that as fair.

A very small percentage of the ball is ever in contact with the ground at any moment. Only takes 1% in fair territory to be a fair ball.

Walker was hustling to get to a ball that was foul. But wasn’t quick enough.

Umps angle skewed things a bit too. Prolly looked on the line from where he was.

if part of the ball is over the foul line. That means part of the ball is in fair territory making it a fair ball.
 
Further, I think if the ball comes to rest in the same situation, I’d judge that as FOUL, as it doesn’t seem to have the same standing for logical extraction from the other rules to be judged as FAIR, but I’m not completely sure on that.
