tell me aboit that treatment man. I’m very curious. Did you feel anything right away? What did they tell you about it? The only stuff I know about it is from online research.
My cardiologist advised I get it. He told me I would be receiving a message from w nurse on Monday telling me where to go (somewhere in Ann Arbor) but the message never came. I was dead to the world anyways. Not sure how I would have made it out to AA (I wasn’t going to have my family drive me).
My wife called around with no luck all day Monday. On Tuesday I was feeling like something bad could happen soon so I just started calling around. One main area hospital did not have it but told me their other location did. Got all ready to go, then when I finally got through on the phone, they told me they didn’t have them either. Good thing I didn’t just go, Gave up looking for a few hours then on a total whim I just started googling places. 45 minutes on hold and finally a nurse answered. Explained my situation being post heart transplant and amazingly she got me set up at an infusion center less than 12 minutes from my home. They were up-front about it not being FDA approved yet, explained possible side effects etc but at that point I felt like I had no choice.
Here’s the crazy part. My phone DIED en route from this place right at the very end of my trip. Like, my next turn I’m there. I totally lost my shit screaming and punching my center console. It felt like the biggest punch in the gut ever. By now I’m hallucinating too. I didn’t recognize my surroundings even though I knew where I was.
Thank God I somehow miraculously remembered the address (rare for me to retain info like that) and if the nurse hadn’t told me it was a single story brown brick building, I would have been shit out of luck. My pure luck (or something else) I managed to find it after wandering around the general area for about 10 minute after parking in a random spot. If not for the Henry Ford signs on the sidewalk I would have been fucked, forced to go home and hopefully reschedule.
Once i got in there it was a huge weight off my shoulders. I was sitting in a dark room getting the infusion within 5 minutes (maybe less) of arriving. I was absolutely dead in the chair, just laying there. Infusion took 15 minutes, then they kept me for an hour for observation, where I just curled up into a ball and tried to relax.
That night was horrible and the worst night I had. Felt like I was dying. Maybe because of all the extra stress from driving around and getting lost, but I was not feeling good about the situation. Luckily the infusion worked and by the next day I felt like maybe I won’t die after all. Got a pretty good itchy rash on my legs from the infusion but no other apparent side effects. Read a local story soon after realizing how lucky I actually was, being one of the 752 people in my area who got it.
Craziest part was some older guy in there also getting the infusion who was laughing, joking, having the time of his life. I never saw him but that guy is lucky he obviously didn’t get it too bad. I hope I never have to do it again.
Apparently I’m all set for 90 days at which point I can get vaccinated (assuming I can now, still gotta check the details w my cardiologist).

Michigan can't meet demand for COVID-19 monoclonal antibody treatments
Amid Michigan's worst-yet coronavirus surge, there's not enough monoclonal antibody treatments nor are there enough nurses to administer them.www.freep.com
Who hijacked @dbldwn711 acoount?Damn dude! That’s a CRAZY story! Btw, I don’t believe that it was “luck” that you found that place and the building. I don’t think it was a grey haired man in the sky either but I believe it was something.
Appreciate the insight into the treatment. All I keep hearing is it’s a “great treatment” for Covid but from the sounds of what you and @basement bias are saying it’s not just a simple get the infusion and feel great.
Take it easy! Sounds like you’ve had a rough go of it. Glad you are starting to feel better. Hang in there.
You have a permit for those guns?

I kept telling everyone that you were okay. That just means I use the board way too much. Disappear for a few days and everybody thinks you died. Not a good look.
