Fiesta Bowl 2024

Sorry but that is 8 teams a decent team should absolutely own. You can add Mich St for now as well. Lincoln Riley knew what he was doing, he likes it soft too.
Michigan State with Jonathan Smith at the helm? An already decently tough program just got tougher.

The B1G is going to be in tiers:

Tier 1:
Oregon
Ohio State
Michigan
USC

Tier 2:
Washington
Wisconsin
Penn State
UCLA

Tier 3:
Iowa
Michigan State
Minnesota
Nebraska

Tier 4:
Whoever else I didn't mention

Those teams are far better built than CAL, Stanford, ASU, Arizona, UCLA, Wazzu, Oregon State.

Rutgers - sucks
Nebraska - Matt Rhule may build a quality 8-4 team there in a year or two. Also rusty old program like Oklahoma
Minnesota - Has been very solid and good since Row The Boat guy has been there, this was their one down year
Northwestern - B1G's version of Stanford. Can have years of being sneaky good
Maryland - Sleeping giant. Currently with Tua's brother but this program is a few miles away from a recruiting hot bed
Illinois - Beilema, although a douche, is a solid coach
Indiana - Sucks
Iowa - Aren't they like 3 time B1G West champs and have multiple 10 win seasons over the last few years?

The B1G offers so much more on a weekly basis.

:pound: :pound: :pound: :pound:All of these "sleeping giants" who can never wake up. Maybe because they aren't sleeping giant's at all.

The thought that a program that has been around for 100+ years that has won just slightly over 50% of their games all time is just suddenly going to become a giant is laughable.

Ducks by fiddy

Look at this looming giant! last time they didn't lost 5 or more games in a season (COVID year don't count) was in fucking 2010. They've never had a winning B1G conference record. But look out!

They have Under Armour's backing, they are in a recruiting area hotbed. I remember I think it was when Chip was returning to college from the NFL, Maryland was a potential landing spot and people were thinking, 'holy shit that would be a grand slam.' I think Maryland is just a great coach away from being something special.

Dude Maryland has played football for over 100 years and is barely over .500 all time, they aren't suddenly going to start cranking out championship caliber teams.

With B1G money, location, there is zero reason a great coach can't go into Maryland and start winning. It's rather asinine to think they wouldn't be good with the right guy in place.

They've been in the B1G since 2014 and have a 52-65 record during that time. Sure are taking advantage of that B1G money, any day now though! lmao

Have they had the right coach in place though? Seems to be missing a big part.

It doesn't matter who the coach is, Maryland is never going to be a team that even somewhat consistently competes for titles. 8-4 is their ceiling in most years, and they struggle to even get there a lot of the time.

I think MD's got a pretty good coach in Locksley, but he's gonna have to replace Little Tua which is no small feat. MD has given Michigan and OSU some pretty good fights the last two seasons, and I'd say the coaching played a role in that. Taulia played awful against OSU and their D eventually got gassed, he looked good against Michigan apart from some awful interceptions... if not for those., they may have won that game. I thought he'd explode in his last couple of seasons and while he didn't quite do so, he was still a very solid college QB. Would make some absolutely beautiful throws but follow up with some of the most baffling interceptions.

I don't think they're a sleeping giant, but they certainly haven't been a doormat lately either.

Lol. Oregon will continue to be a footnote on everyone else’s epic asses.
