Fire Day

I don't wanna see it regardless unless we have a comfortable lead and we want a knockout punch.

What's considered comfortable? We were up 11 when Ransom slipped and had no help

This season I would've liked to see it never. The guys weren't ready for that type of scheme, and frankly we didn't have the talent for it.

The offensive game plan was impeccable. To think we didn't have JSN, Henderson, then Stover went down early against the top defense in the nation and we still scored 41, hats off to Day. Defensively I wasn't surprised. We need this offseason to evaluate the secondary for sure. That said, they largely shut Bowers down and did well against the run other than that big 52 yarder, so the front 7 did their job. If they can develop the secondary this offseason things will be much different next year. It was definitely our Achilles heal.
Looks they don’t have many CB’s signed and they have a couple safeties but I weary about their depth. I don’t know if it’s just subpar recruiting or lack of player development. Their secondary has been underwelming for years. I don’t have any issue with any other defensive position. They need more RB depth and a more dependable TE but not too worried about those positions. Secondary is and has been a huge concern

They have two stud CBs in this class that I'm really high on in Mathews and Simpson-Hunt, and they have several underclassmen to develop. The lack of true coaching leadership on defense in 20/21 really set back the development in the secondary that we need but I think Knowles can fix that. They played in an entirely new scheme this year and obviously had ups and downs. Another full offseason should be a big help.

Another sign of terrible coaching. Day shoulda stepped in and stopped the cover zero nonsense. Instead it kept going and cost us again.
I mean, there was one instance of busted coverage where the CB slipped, but y’all had good coverage on the game winning drive, Bennett just had the drive of his life fitting the ball into tight windows on covered receivers. I still don’t know how that one pass even made it to Bowers

Day has gotten pantsed in the 2nd half in his last few big games. The 2 vs Michigan and this UGA game. Another sign of a bad coach, getting significantly out coached late in big games

What about on the road against top 10 Penn State when we pulled away in the 4th and won by 2 TDs?

The whole born on third base Harbaugh quote about Day is still hilarious, but this was his 4th year on the job, and these are his players and at worst, OSU is still in just as good of shape as they were at the end of Meyer’s tenure, and with a lot less negative press. Yeah, the Michigan losses aren’t great, but they at least came against the best Michigan teams since the 90’s. Not like he was getting destroyed by Iowa and Purdue.

If you want a real born on third and thinks he hit a triple, it’s Lincoln Riley. Bob Stoops retired with Oklahoma in excellent shape, and the farther Riley got away from Stoops, the worse Oklahoma became. Literally regressed every year at Oklahoma, and couldn’t even win a weak Pac this year.

I don’t like either, but if I had to choose, I’d take Day over Riley 100 times out of 100

Thing that a lot of people don't know is that Day is the reason Fields came to Ohio State. He was his biggest recruiter and Fields saw what he did in 2017 with Barrett and 2018 with Haskins. Day's 2019 team, though not entirely his own, was as good as they were largely because of his coaching and the guys he helped bring in as Urban's OC.

Then again, Harbaugh says stupid stuff all the time so this is no different.

Days 2019 team pulled another choke job in the playoff as well. Shoulda won that Clemson game but they blew it. Guy is just a choker on the big stage outside of the COVID year playoff win over Clemson

"wahh he's 45-6 with 5 of those losses coming to Georgia, Clemson, Michigan and Alabama!!!"

Stupid thread.

I've gone through this stuff with @osubuckeye89 about the Indians in baseball threads. He's possibly the most negative fan I've ever expereinced.

It does suck that in the 4th, Georgia scored the most points in any quarter, and it was the only quarter that tOSU didn't score a TD.

Looking at the stat line, I was pretty surprised to see that UGA outgained OSU fairly significantly in that game. Sure didn’t feel like it.

I prefer winning in blowout fashion. Everyone at the party I was at was all pissed off until the very end. Me included

Next year will be interesting given the schedule. Plus, having to replace Stroud(though odds are QB will still be excellent). They have to play @ND, which is returning a ton on offense, and looks poised to get Hartman in the portal. Defense probably takes a step back, but should still be pretty formidable. I think PSU has a chance to have a higher ceiling if Allar lives up to his 5 star status. They should have an elite Oline and RB's. And then you have the Michigan game. If they do worst case at 9-3, does Day get fired at that point? I'd probably say yes, but like I said, that'd be worst possible scenario.

I think whoever we send out at QB will be fine.

I however have zero confidence in the defense being much better next year.

I fully expect we will probably be 11-0 or 10-1 going into the Michigan game and lose that game again. Good thing about the ND game is it's our 4th game, so the new QB will have 3 games under his belt instead of playing that game right away or in game 2. I'd still suspect that would be the other game we may take a L in though. Penn State game is at home and our 7th game so everyone should be well settled in by then.
