If by delivers, you mean getting a blue blood program above .500 playing in one of the worst and overrated conferences in the country? Then yes he delivers. Otherwise, Riley remains overrated

I don’t like either, but if I had to choose, I’d take Day over Riley 100 times out of 100

Around here there has been some of the same talk regarding Sonny Dykes and what Gary Patterson left him. I don't think anyone thinks Dykes inherited a train wreck. Dykes has even said the program was in pretty good shape when he got there.

But the TCU insiders that live around here say Patterson had lost some of his players because of a refusal to deal with some assistant coach issues. I have no first hand knowledge of that but many of them are still pretty connected to the program.

USC may have some of the same "Country Club" mentality issues that Texas has to deal with. At least it looks that way from the outside. Resting on their past accolades instead of having chips on their shoulders. Need to get some shit in their blood.

IIRC, Leach recommended him to Riley. But he may have seen that as a way to unload him.

The lack of true coaching leadership on defense in 20/21 really set back the development in the secondary that we need but I think Knowles can fix that. They played in an entirely new scheme this year and obviously had ups and downs. Another full offseason should be a big help.

I think this season is going to be a better indication of Penn State's program moving forward. They have some talent for sure.

IMO the way Franklin recruits his losses should only ever be to OSU and UM. Now I know that’s not a very reasonable take but he shouldn’t be losing many other times throughout a season.

In all honesty, the way michigan has been recruiting, there's no reason they shouldn't beat them as early as next year. Drew Allar very well might be the best QB in the conference next year and they have tons of weapons at the skill positions. Just need to tighten up a little on defense and they're going to be right in it.

Gotta agree. Team almost beat an extremely talented Georgia team without its top 3 rbs and top 2 receivers.

Some people can't handle even a "slight" departure from the excessive level of success OSU has had over the last 20 years. Going 11-2 and nearly dethroning the unbeaten defending champs is suddenly a negative, even in a year where you completely overhauled the entire defense. It's idiocy.

Riley broke the "Rematch typically favors the team that lost the first time (42-43) rule by losing the rematch by an even wider score (24-47). It was Wittingham that made the adjustments to why the first score was close.
USC had 175 yds rushing in the first game, but only 56 yds rushing in the rematch.

That being said, Franklin at Penn St went (0-1) against Scott Frost. Only Rutgers and Maryland can also say that.

Franklin is a worse coach than Riley for sure, but that means there’s less chances at playing in big games. Franklin at least won the Rose Bowl this year, what’s the biggest win in Riley’s career? Sugar Bowl against Florida in 2020?
