Lol Ryan Days QBs have struggled and named two people. Fields scouting report pre draft literally said he would be a two season project and despite his passing struggles still singlehandedly had his team in winnable games. 6 straight games he put up some crazy numbers, they scored 27 point or more and lost all but one of them.

Are you also implying that there is somewhere out there that McCord could transfer to with a coach with some proven track record of producing successful NFL QBs? It's a gamble either way, but at this point, the bigger gamble would be to transfer. Now if he loses the job this year, then I would fully expect him to go

I love Devin Brown. I like his wheels. As far as Mccord better than Stroud, like you said no way of knowing but I highly doubt he is better. Wouldn’t be surprised if he was a backup again and/or transfers

Everyone and their mom knew Fields would be a project. He now has the worst OL in the NFL and little to no weapons and like you said kept his team in a lot of close games. Overreaction to Fields. Sadly Haskins never got another shot but he did seem like he was struggling. So one QB didn’t make it in the NFL lol

who else would I name? Chase Rettig and Tyler Murphy back when he was at Boston College?

And Fields success in the NFL thus far has had zero to do with passing and everything to do with his speed and ability to run the ball. Now unless Day is responsible for him being 6'3" 230 lbs and being able to run a 4.4 -- I'm not sure I'm be praising Day's work with Fields.

I'm simply saying -- what has made OSU's QBs put up obnoxious numbers lately has more to do with who they are throwing to and not the QB.

If you go down the list of NFL rosters, you are likely to find an OSU WR and many of them are #1 WRs in the NFL. Terry McClaurin, Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, Michael Thomas. Ngjiba-Smith will be a 1st round pick. Marvin Harrison Jr could go #1 overall. Egbuka will be a 1st round pick.

Your WR coach is the one who deserves the accolades.

Fields was a two year starter. Haskins was a one year starter. Stroud was a two year starter. Find me the QBs that started less than two years in college that start tearing it up immediately in the NFL. Everyone knew fields was a project and was going to need time.

I'm not denying that the receivers they throw to and the line that blocks from them doesn't make them look better, but I will argue the statement "all of Ryan Days QBs have sucked" when there has been a whole two of them and the jury is still very much out on one.

Stroud is by far the most developed QB Day will be putting into the NFL so he will be the best example yet. He still won't tear it up his first year especially bc it looks like he will be drafted by the Texans but if Houston is smart in the coming years and build around him like Buffalo with Allen, Philly with Hurts, and Cincy with Burrow then he absolutely could be successful

Here is the part with Stroud that makes me worry about him. He ranked near the top when he had a clean pocket, while throwing to the crazy talent group of WRs he has had at his disposal. He ranked 97th in QB rating on throws he faced pressure.

I'm not saying he will flop, but I am saying, what has made OSU's QBs look so good in the last 5-6 years is having a WR group that overwhelms the vast majority of secondaries, making life extremely easy on any QB you put under center.

In the NFL you aren't going to have enormous windows to throw the ball into and you are going to have to be able to anticipate throws and throw WRs open. You also have to be able to handle pressure, because you will face pressure often in the pocket.

That is why I'm not sold on Day as this QB Guru, as each QB that has went to NFL struggled throwing the ball. Fields has been successful, but it is his running ability that has impressed people. Now I think it is Hartline, who is your WR coach -- THAT guy deserves to be paid twice as much as any assistant coach in football. He pumps out not just NFL WR's, but dominant NFL WR's. Have I mentioned how jealous I am of OSU's WR room?

Theres not

McCord would be at some mid-low level program if he transferred out before 2022. There's just no track record there that would draw him to a big player. It makes more sense for him to wait it out until this year, like I said he can still transfer out to a mid-lower level program after spring if he's not winning the job.

Yeah. Just like Joe Burrow, who had no track record, who transferred to LSU. And Justin Fields, who had no track record and transferred to OSU.

If you are a QB recruited by one of the top programs -- you will have teams lined up to take you on if they are weak at QB.

The two QBs who were setting Ohio State records in passing have put up, I believe 35 tds and 36 interceptions in the NFL (or it may be 36/35).

Fields has been really good running the ball, but I wouldn't be surprised in the least bit if Chicago trades him and drafts Bryce Young to be their QB, as you won't survive with a QB who is so heavy on running the ball in the NFL.

I really don't care what they do in the NFL. We are talking about performing in college here.
 
Maybe kid is getting some cash to run the scout team. It’s an important job and if he can transfer and graduate from tOSU it’s a good look on a resume or maybe he wants admittance to tOSU graduate program.

It can make sense for the kid.

You are the one saying how Day develops QBs and why a kid would stay at OSU over transferring.

I'm saying the development has shown more that it is the WRs over the QB, as the WRs go on and are #1 WRs in the NFL, while the QBs have been mediocre.

A. I never said he develops NFL QBs, I said I trust his decision making when it comes to picking his QB for Ohio State.

B. Haskins and Fields were both drafted in the 1st round. You can talk about their NFL performance all you want but they still got drafted in the 1st round. After that I could care less what they do.

No one said anything about Day developing QBs. It was said the last soon to be 3 QBs he did have went first round in the draft and none of them started more than two seasons.

This conversation started bc you insinuated that McCord must not be very good otherwise he would have transferred. The evidence suggests that as long as your are going to be able to get a shot to start by your 3rd season, the gamble would be the transfer, not staying at Ohio State

As long as he's getting guys drafted high and paid, that's going to be attractive. Regardless of what happens after they get drafted.
