Brady left with an injury yesterday?

Yes. It seemed to be minor. If it was a real NHL game he would've played through whatever his ailment was. Same with his brother and Matthews and McAvoy. I expect them all to play on Thursday.

McAvoy is out. He was apparently admitted into a local hospital. That triply-sucks for him because he's going to miss out on the championship game IN BOSTON and he just had a baby.

It sounds like Quinn Hughes is on his way to Boston. There's a chance he could take McAvoy's place in the lineup. That would at least help soften the blow for losing McAvoy on the USA roster.

My understanding of it is that there needs to be yet another injury on defense in order for Hughes to be eligible to play :noidea:

Yeah, that's how I understand it too. I won't be surprised if Hanifin or Sanderson catches a cold Thursday morning, though.

I'm curious what the standard is since I doubt that either guy will want to sit out their regular season game on Saturday if that's required to "prove" it.

Ultimately, these are just exhibition games. I'm not so sure the 'rulebook' on this tourney was thorough enough to capture or dictate this type of circumstance. From the beginning, it was touted as a 'best on best' competition. Really, it would be kinda silly if they enforced strict rules against fielding the best team - especially at the expense of regular season games.

If they ever do this again, they should implement a deeper roster to cover injury and illness. Last night proved that - US only dressed 11 F, 6 D to START the game. A deeper player pool would've covered that and allowed Quinn Hughes to be included on the US roster as a possible replacement with no questions asked.

Hate to see Charlie out. Even before the injury, I was thinking Canada wins the rematch. This moves the needle a little more.

Can't wait for the game :beer2:

Canada has already said they don’t give a fuck if Hughes plays. Adds more juice

So it’s up to the nhl how lame they wanna be.

There’s no reason they should fight back against the inevitable cough that shows up for Sanderson tomorrow

This event had been brilliant.

so great to have Canada vs U.S. hockey taking headlines as the nba has a d leaguer win their dunk contest again.

Awesome to see how much the players care

Nvm no Hughes officially.

NHL is stupid

I'm going to guess that the fans in Boston will sit quietly and respect the Canadian anthem.

I gotta say it kinda cracks me up that people seem to think that the Tkachuks are The Bash Brothers when they are more like the trust fund prep school dicks in that godawful 3rd movie

But who boo'd? I missed the anthem part???

USA playing so much better. Canada shoots a shot through 20 arms and legs and it finds the corner of the net. Lucky AF.

Yeah saw that shit..

Matthews with a great game going on

It's always times like this where I wonder why no one has cross-checked #87 in the back of the head yet...
