Nice.Styx here.
Lighting and outlets are not typically on the same circuits, depending on how old the house is. Especially in kitchen and bathsI turned off the breaker that killed the outlet right next to the switch and assumed they were on the same breaker. Turns out I was wrong.
What i posted is referred to as an idiot stick. Get oneMy way of checking was plugging my Echo into the outlet right next to the switch and putting music on so I could hear it from the basement.
I flipped the breaker and the music went off.
The outlet and the switch were not on the same breaker...
Me, too. Though I go in more for smaller venues these days.Nice.
Man...I miss concerts.

I think the last show I went to was the lead singers of Drive By Truckers performing at a little place in Annapolis. That was damn good.Me, too. Though I go in more for smaller venues these days.
Saw America and Chris Isaac in a theatre here a couple years ago. Both were outstanding.
For 15 bucks, it takes away a bunch of guess work, and fear. I have 2 or 3 if them, and they are handy. Will do.
Thanks Petey.
I'm apparently learning this the hard way.Fyi, outlets are typically on 20amp breakers, and lighting is 15amp breakers.
Mine was the Beach Boys. I was just a sprat and my 'rents took me.It is.
He was my first concert
I'll switch out a fixture, but that's it.Fyi, outlets are typically on 20amp breakers, and lighting is 15amp breakers.
And if I touch it to a hot line coming into a switch, it lights up?For 15 bucks, it takes away a bunch of guess work, and fear. I have 2 or 3 if them, and they are handy.
If it wasnt for learning the hard way, i wouldn't know shitI'm apparently learning this the hard way.
Any hot wire will set it offAnd if I touch it to a hot line coming into a switch, it lights up?
Always thought those were only good for outlets.
I'm new to electrical repairs...so far I'm batting .500.I'll switch out a fixture, but that's it.
I test for the right breaker before doing anything else.
