Hosmer's career best OPS+ (133 in 2017) would be tied for the 4th worst of Freeman's career.

Freeman has only 202 more plate appearances than Hosmer and he has 25 more WAR

Remember in 2019 when A-Rod called Hosmer the best 1B in the NL?

Who knows, Freddie might have went to the Dodgers anyways, but I bet the Padres would have been right there with them if they didn’t have Hosmer
 
Evidently, that sixth year was a huge thing for Freeman and the Braves didn't want to commit to it.

At this stage in their career, Chipper Jones restructured his deal so the Braves could sign more talent and Freeman bolts for the money. Chipper deserves all the love he receives from the fans.

Chipper is the the favorite player of every Braves fan not old enough to have watched Hank Aaron. Braves offer of 5 years for 140 million was more per year and Georgia has a significantly lower tax than California. He wanted the sixth year and probably wanted to go back home to SoCal.

Everything worked out fine for both sides though. Olson is younger and has put up some really good numbers in a big time pitchers park to go with elite defense. Freddie is happy. Olson is a Brave until 2029, so Braves fans should be happy too
 
I still don’t think the Dodgers are as good as they were last year. They replaced Seager with Freeman and that’s basically a wash, but Muncy is gonna play second and Turner will play short, so their infield defense won’t be as good.

And Kershaw and Justin Turner are another year older and injury prone, and Max Scherzer is a Met. Spewler is the Braves bitch in the playoffs and it’s just a matter of time before Urias gets another domestic violence suspension
