A woman looking to buy an cellphone on Facebook Marketplace was instead sold a box of rocks by an armed man.

Akron police said the robbery happened at about 4:30 p.m. Thursday in the 30 block of East Thronton in downtown Akron.

A woman told police she gave money to a man for an iPhone, and he handed her a bag with an iPhone box inside.

She soon realized the box was full of rocks, police said. The woman said the man also had a handgun coming out of his jacket pocket.

Police said the woman arraigned to buy the phone from the man on Facebook Marketplace.
