FSU files for exit from ACC

Also, if you're into that sort of thing, there are some good soccer and lacrosse programs

so they are using the MD exit as an example

and they are upset how the ACC locked in on a 24 year deal that apparently FSU had no say..

oh and they are also using the new additions of 3 schools that they fought against wholeheartedly

There are some very good basketball programs to scarf. Or the leftovers can join up with the current Big East and make a really solid BBall league.

Totally fair, I never think about basketball. I watch Nebraska basketball sometimes lol, but that's about it. Never been big into it, but I know it is a big money maker too.

Duke and Virginia are definitely marketable for their Bball along with UNC, but all three of their football programs are just average at best.

If we're just going with football, the only schools to seriously consider are Clemson and FSU. Put either of them in the SEC or BIG and they're also just average.

I don't imagine the SEC would want Florida, FSU AND Miami.

Everybody says Georgia Tech should be desirable because of the Atlanta market, but TV markets ain't what they used to be.

Bottom line, everybody should just stand pat for now.

Just push the G5 out lol.

But yeah. I actually think the B1G would need to act on FSU. As it sits, assuming the ACC will fall away, FSU and Clemson annnnd maybe NC are the main schools to grab. If the B1G continues to be second to the party, then they'll continue to get the scraps and end up with like Miami, VaTech, UVa, etc. Not terrible for money, but not great for viewers.
Hardly anyone agrees with me but I’d take UNC and Duke and call it a day. I know basketball is an after thought but the SEC is the best in football, baseball and that would be a huge step towards men’s basketball that would elevate the whole league.

Honestly I think if FSU and Clemson go B1G it will substantially hurt their recruiting because Southern kids will want to play Southern schools so I’m for passing on them and elevating the conference in all sports.

As Ive said for a while now, Florida State won’t be in the ACC by 2026.

Keep arguing with your mommas about it

Well the B1G is at 18 now, they could take 6 to make it 24 and divide into pods to give those ACC schools half a schedule worth of southern games, but let's not forget they will have nice home competition with Northern B1G schools. It'll all pan out.

Not saying there is incentive for that right now, but thats where everything seems to be trending in the coming decades.

I was called crazy by WT for suggesting this was the path that we were heading down

I don’t hate it but will Duke be what they were under Coach K?
Carolina 100% but I dunno if I’d be completely sold on Duke, may not be well rounded enough.

At best I see some type of settlement to shorten the ACC GOR from 2036 to 2030, since that is also when the current Big 10 and Notre Dame media rights contracts expire. The withdrawal penalty likely stays in place.

FSU would certainly be an occasional ACC (in-conference) home game for ND and I doubt NBC is onboard here unless FSU and ND join the Big 10.

Other ACC teams might go along with shortening that GOR from 2036 to 2030. ESPN's got them bent over a barrel.
The ESPN/SEC contract runs thru 2034.

Is there any cobbling together a new conference that includes FSU, Miami, Clemson, NC, Duke, VT an some other non ACC teams that actually moves a needle or no?
West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State?
what if they could pull ND?

There is zero chance they would pull in Notre Dame
