An assistant coach 4 years ago takes a payoff to send kids to an agent and gets caught up in the FBI sting. He gave $300 to a player and when Oklahoma State found out he sat 3 games and the assistant coach was fired immediately. During the investigation the former assistant didn't cooperate because he was under federal prosecution and didn't want to incriminate himself further. He got a 10 year show cause so justice was served there but we get a post season ban because of something that happened under a former coach when everyone on the team except for maybe a senior transfer who got a COVID year was in HS. It was proven he did worse as an assistant at South Carolina although I don't believe they deserve much of a punishment for an assistant on the take they got a slap on the wrist and we get a post season ban

The fucking crazy thing is we had no level one infractions. Former HC was unaware of what was going on, no payments to players aside from $300 which now is NIL chump change, no lack of institutional control. Nothing but an assistant getting 16 grand from an agent. And we get a post season ban? The scholarship reduction is bullshit bit I get it. It ends up being 3 kids somewhere not getting a full ride because of the deduction but although that's not fair such is life. The post season ban though. That's going to fuck up some NIL deals for kids that are capable of going pro in a few months or really becoming stars going into next season. And the timing is bullshit. If we get the news in June I have no problem with kids transferring out. I love my school but if Ice (a senior who put his time in with us) left because of it I understand and would root like hell for him wherever he went.

Auburn has pretty much the same scenario and we self imposed one year of no recruiting and post season ban that was last year. We should be free and clear now.

Well that sucks. The NCAA is near death. People already flirting with breaking away from the tourney and doing their own thing. The tourney is how the ncaa funds their entire year. Without it they're toast.

Another example of it being better to tell the NCAA to fuck off rather than actually investigating and being honest.

Yeah. When the SI thing happened we were very transparent. The story itself was a fabrication so we had nothing to hide and the NCAA was like meh. Did the same thing this time and we get fucked. We appeal because it's bullshit and the NCAA tells us to get fucked. Being cooperative meant shit here. In their findings they referenced stuff we did in the 80's in football which happened but that was 35 years ago.

A real shit thing is we are probably better this year than last year. We had Cade last year and he was transcendent as a college player but we return pretty much everyone aside from him and had 2 former 5*'s transfer in. I'm watching us up 40 on a team we beat by 10 last year.
