Fuck you Refs

Ok he is full of shit on this one. There was no contact with his shoulder. It was all forearm and bicep. There definitely was contact to the head area but it wasn't bad at all.

Mccauley used to be a pretty good official but his current position he just seems to be attention seeking bc he puts out stuff like this every week it seems

The "but its how the rule is written!" people are stupid, it's a fucking beyond stupid rule.

Targeting should only apply to clearly malicious intent hits. If someone launches and uses their helmet as a missile, by all means. But bang bang plays where the "targeting" is often caused by the offensive player lowering their head or falling at the last second after the defender already began to engage is ridiculous BS (why is it always on the defender as well?)

P4 definitely should pay refs enough where it can definitely stand as what a full time job would. I think it would improve things but you're definitely never going to completely eliminate garbage officiating.

"Division I (FBS): Referees in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), which includes the major conferences like the SEC, Big Ten, and ACC, can earn between $2,000 and $3,000 per game. For a full season, which typically includes around 12 games, a referee can earn between $24,000 and $36,000."

Considering $millions are bet on every game, $5,000 - $10,000 cash in a brown paper bag to influence ML's, Spreads, and Over/Unders is chump change.

It's Control 101. Get someone dependent on you and then you control them. If they have outside jobs, eh who cares if someone is unhappy. When your livelihood depends on getting the call right, you are more likely to get the call right.

Could conferences pay their refs more? Gonna be tough for FCS and most G5 schools to afford to pay enough money to all the refs they need in order to prevent them from having second jobs, but the P4 certainly could. Even if they still have side jobs, their main income needs to be from being a referee. That way when you suck or let your bias show there is a very severe penalty for it.
Your solution is to pay the MORE?

Well when you don't pay them enough then you cant really suspend them bc there is no one to take their place.

Make it more valuable and you could get enough of them to care about the job that a suspension holds more weight

We know you get a boner whenever targeting is called and rush to defend the rule every time
Not defending targeting...but they reviewed more than targeting. They also reviewed catch/incomplete

I will just say pass interference is still the thing these refs are the most blind about. I think back to the national title Miami/Ohio State game. The so called interference that Sharpe had on Gamble. Terry Porter throws that flag. Now, as far as that game goes, I didn't have a dog in the fight. But that flag came in super late. In relation to what we are seeing today, if that shit was a flag, the refs should be calling every patty cake, hand fighting, whatever after the 5 yard line.

You didn't call that jersey tug in the end zone of the Nebraska/Southern Cal game, but you gonna call this shit?

To be fair, the only reason the Gamble play happened is because the same officials screwed OSU twice on the same play late in the 4th quarter, with a very similar if not worse no-call jersey pull as in your second picture. If we had instant replay back in those days, that game never goes to OT and OSU wins in regulation.

Worth posting twice.

Three times in a row like that is pretty well past the point of stupidity, incompetence, etc and likely at the striped reprobates being bought and paid for.
