Games With Best Player, But His Team Lost?

When Iowa State beat Oklahoma State in 2OT. 2011

My favorite part is when Iowa State wins and the commentator says something like, "He's been saving that play for this moment.".

Just what the coaches of a 5-4 team had planned going into the game vs a 10-0 team.

You lost all credibility the moment you brought up 2013 vs. Oregon.
It's obvious you just looked for stats without doing any real digging into what happened in the game.
You lost credibility by being an asshat homer. It wasn't worth my time to look up the stats of two clown teams from clown conference.

Manziel vs Alabama 2013. 28/39 with 464 passing yards, 5/2 TD/INT, ran for 98 yards on 14 carries against an elite Alabama defense

This one comes to mind imo, Guy prob should have taken a few snaps at QB as well that night

Vick in his NC game as well.

Broke my heart that Austin had that performance and they didnt win. Sigh, Moutaineers offense used to be hands-down best entertainment in all of college football

Homer? I destroyed your argument by posting what happened in the game. All you did was look at yardage and claim that he was the best player.

Cmon, you can do better than that Gump.

Bailey had a huge game as well. Not the only time he had 200+ yards in a losing effort either (Ok State the week before that game)

Jesus dude, I invested 10 seconds in looking at Halliday's career stats because I had him on my fantasy team...which is about all the Pac-12 is good for...fantasy football. If I wanted to grind out numbers for an off-season throwaway I wouldn't waste it on shit football.

Here's a hint -- just because someone racks up fantasy stats =/= them being the best player.

Oh I'm well aware, that's why I cringe when anybody mentions a Pac-12 player as a Heisman contender.

So who was the best player in the Wash State-Cal game...or do you only care about somebody besmirching one shitty Pac-12 team in particular....because it seems like that is the only reason you care. My apologies for insinuating that anyone had a good game against the mighty Ducks. I would never dream of talking shit about the mighty and powerful Ducks from Oregon, they are the bestest and all their players are better than all the other players everywhere.

It's a tough call between Goff - Halliday.
Goff had the higher QBR. If you've watched WSU games, you know that most of their passes are quick outs to the receiver.

Ron Vanderkelen is the first name I thought of. The Badgers lost the 1963 Rose Bowl but he shared the MVP and broke a few records.

Dude give it a rest. He threw for 734 yards and 6 td's...only to lose the game because their kicker missed a 19 yard field goal.

It is literally the most passing yards anyone has ever gotten in an FBS game...

....of course, Halliday's attempts and completions against Oregon are also the most by anyone ever in a college game...but yeah, Oregon.

He was down almost 40 points in the 4th quarter against backups. No one cares how much statpadding you do when down 30+ points.

Also LOL @ you still saying that stats are the end all be all.

It's clear that Goff is the better QB.

You can make case for Holliday against Cal in 2014, although Goff played well too.

There's really no case to be made for the 2013 game against Oregon. He threw 4 picks and his team was getting blown out when he did most of his damage. His QBR was actually pretty bad in that game. Mariota had a much better game.

Throwing the ball 90 times doesn't mean he played well necessarily. Think of guy who shoots the ball 30 times in an NBA game. He's probably going to score 20-25 points, at a minimum. But that doesn't mean he played well.

I liked the Suh vs. Texas and Mahomes vs. OU picks so far. Those two stand out to me.

So, what are some great games or mediocre games even, but they had players that went off the charts, but in a losing effort?

Sorry, but if two games where a player set passing, attempts and completion ALL-TIME records don't qualify as going 'off the charts, but in a losing effort", then what the fuck does. Hell, it even qualifies as a 'mediocre" game...but then so do most Pac-12 contests.

2013 Iron Bowl. Alabama had a better player than Auburn at every position on the field, except kicker and punter.
