One of my favorite running backs to watch on old film. He just glided like a gazelle through holes and secondaries. A true great. RIP

Damn....Didnt know he was sick.....Definetley an all-time great od the greats......

Ive watched the 6 td hi-lites on a sloppy field many a times....

RIP Gale.....

Sad news. I must admit I was not aware that he was still alive.

Amazing athlete, obviously. He long jumped nearly 25 feet in HS (with 1961 technology!) and held the state record for like 45 years. That was when the world record was just over 27 feet.

Not a lot of tech (lightweight track shoes) involved in the long jump, but I agree that that is amazing.

Wow... such sad news. One of the best to play the game, and definitely in the discussion of best Chicago Bears players ever.

Rest In Peace...

One of only 4 Bears in the history of that franchise that I liked

Godspeed Gale

Sayers was the SIU athletic director when my brother was the back up punter there.

Brother said Sayers came out to practice one day and came to within 10 ft of him.

Brother called me and said Gayle Sayers just walked by me at practice!

So long, Kansas comet. One of the greatest Jayhawks there ever was.

God Bless the Kansas Comet....My first favorite NFL player
