Geoff Collins out at Georgia Tech

I think it would be good for GT to step down to FCS for a while.
Pays less, but I understand your take. We have discussed it ad nausea on the GT boards. If we did we would do really well. But it won't ever happen, and I don't want to after winning the Orange Bowl less than a decade ago. And ACC championships in the modern era. We can be there as conf champions again (its the ACC, not the B1G or SEC) but the first task is making a good decision in the hire this time.

AD got canned also.

Shows GT is taking it seriously iyam. That needed to happen.

AD was the hiring guy for Collins and stood by him all this time even up to today. "I have my man" was his motto at the end of 2021. They were tied together after that.

You shouldn't be responding to parents on Twitter, tbh

Leave that to the recruiting weirdos
I did a double take when I saw that one. That’s a freaking mom tweeting about her son so leave the poor woman alone.

I’m all for a good troll but we have to have boundaries!

You know what? You are right. I deleted.

Thanks for the check.

About 70% of a team's chances to win games depends on their talent. A decent head coach is worth about 20% and all the other stuff is worth maybe 10%. Give Brent Venables Alabama's talent and he will win a NC. Give Nick Saban Oklahoma's talent and he'll struggle to win a conference championship. Good luck to GT in its search but it will eventually come back to how much talent is out there on the field if they want to see more success.
I agree with the idea it's jimmies and joes, not x's and o's. That said, recruiting doesn't just happen. There is a reason that Saban is so good and his predecessors aren't. He established the "system" at Bama and was able to get all the meddling alumni the hell out. Does Sark have that juice? Because that is what it takes. Smart was with Saban for a decade and was his most important cog in the system wheel. He set up his own system at UGA using all he learned at Bama.

So, Saban would have been successful at OU because OU has a lot of other advantages. Saban would not have been successful at GaTech because they don't have those things.

The same thing comes up with Vandy. It's a football thing as we are good at other sports. But a league of:

- Vandy
- GaTech
- Duke
- NW
etc would be a lot of fun.

Nothing like Vandy baseball, and no bigger fan than me.

I pictured the rest of SEC like this when they won....

I knew that but I just like the overall message that it sends. The president just says “I’m cleaning house here” and starts from the ground up, it’s a good thing imo.
Ain’t no excuse for GT to be THIS bad.
