It shows you don't understand military defense.

Space Force was a thing long before Space Force. It was NASA. I have a friend with national security clearance (was character witness for me) and he always cited before Space Force that the public wing of NASA was only 19-20% of the funding and it had a heavy military apparatus.

Space Force's primary duty is to defend our satellites from enemy attacks. There is a new theater of war based on knocking out Satellite technology using nuclear weapons, missile attacks, hacking, EMPs, etc.

Do you not think that intelligence satellites are a huge reconnaissance asset in war?

Considering that I’m retired AF with one of the highest clearances you can get, and worked at USSPACECOM, I understand it just fine.

It’s not the mission I have an issue with. It that before all of that was done by USAF, and some by the other branches, primarily the Navy. There is no need to create an entirely different branch for it.

That is not 100% accurate. Air Force wasn't responsible for defense outside the Earth's Atmosphere. (What Reagan called Star Wars). NASA and other more clandestine defense agencies were handling that. Space Force was a need and only small brain people cannot figure that out.

That’s not true, the Air Force absolutely had a “space command,” it’s where Space Force came from.

Pretty sure Air Force handled ground based ICBM’s which travel in low earth orbit to their targets, which is why Reagan pushed for “Star Wars”

USCGA is kinda handicapped in the offshore sailing because they can’t host regattas and the host location sets the rules. Also, some of the private school programs have a big edge in boats. They do well but rarely win the natty.

The Dinghy crews are a lot more successful because it’s more of an even playing field.

I know they have decent swimmers (or at least used to). Competed against them in college
 
The Space Force TV series has some very good scenes. But most of it sucks.

I’m sure they do for Division III. It’s tough to be competitive in most sports because it’s hard to get in, only 1,056 students, tight budgets and the 5 year commitment after you graduate.

It’s not a normal college experience so you need to want it and willing to sacrifice to make it happen. On the plus side playing sports is actually a reprieve and not a burden. On the negative side you are 24/7 a member in the military.

There is more defensive efforts in Space than just ground based ICBMs which would still reside with Air Force I assume.
