Well shit. I ended up letting the other company that I was interviewing with that I would accept their job offer last night. I went to give my boss my two week notice this morning, and instead he immediately matched the offer. Actually slightly more.

So now I feel like a jackass to have to call this other guy back and tell him I'm backing out unless they offer more.

snow is starting to melt and today should hit 40, but we have some cooler temps in forecast, so we'll see

Decent weekend. Grilled some burgers, got murray on a long walk, lunch with friends

Meetings all day today for budgeting. Hooray. Wanted to get a report done last night so I could focus on budgets, but I don't have access to a component I need, so had to request access and apparently others don't work sundays

I'd feel guilty too

Buddy of mine accepted a job, another company found out he was in the market and said you should've told me, so they offered him a better paying job and few other things better in line with what he wanted to do, so on his first day at the new job he turned in his 2 week notice

which turned into several weeks as he split his time between companies and worked as a consult at original company (which is what he did prior to them hiring him)

good time to be a skilled worker

Oh they matched. So as of now, I'm staying. We'll see if the other company ups their offer. My boss said he was willing to fight for me to stay, so it may not be done yet.

Its a weird feeling tho. I've always been the one begging someone for a job. Its a pretty sweet feeling to have two companies kinda fighting over you. And the industry I'm in, business is booming. So companies are more willing right now to pay more for experienced workers.

In my career, I've had to make so many uncomfortable calls/meetings, I don't even like thinking about it.

I give you this advice: do it. Don't wait. 99% of the time, the anticipation of the exchange is far worse than the actual exchange.
