Happy Friday and National Cookie Day!

Rough night last night. My SIL tried killing herself and my MIL found her and saved her life. Doctors said a couple more minutes and she'd have been gone. Her husband is out of town and she left her 12yo in the house and started up the tractor and other machines in the barn and blocked the door. MIL had to bust down the door and drag her outside and basically beat up on her to get her to wake up.

No word yet whether there's any brain damage from being unconscious for awhile. Her first words were apparently "Why? I was almost there."

Long road ahead. Feel bad for my MIL that she has that experience in her brain, but at least it wasn't my nephew that found her. He just thinks she "passed out" while out in the barn.
holy shit

I'm sorry to hear that kobes. I don't even know what to say.

so it's your husband's brother's wife?

I have suicide in my family. It fucking sucks.

When you commit suicide, your pain doesnt stop, it transfers to those that love you.

Thanks for the rec -- I'll show it to my fam and maybe we'll hit it up

Of places we ate, it was my favorite. The island is really small, it takes about half hour to drive around in a jeep, there is one gas station on island (granted, I was there 9 years ago)

Everything there arrives by ferry, therefore everything there is very expensive. I loved st john, but travel days are brutal, there are few if any direct flights to St Thomas, so there is often at least 1, if not 2 connecting fights to get to St. Thomas. Then you get to take a taxi to other side of the island where the ferry is.

We plan to hit it up again though. Very quiet island, so it's not like a party resort scene. Beaches are quiet.

Taxis charge by your destination point and they're nothing more than a truck with a bench in the truck bed.

I'm sure a lot has changed since I went, but very cool. Most of stuff is in Cruz Bay.

Jesus. Hope she gets the help she appears to need.

Yeah, Mr. Kobe's brother's wife. I've known her since I was 13 because she's from my hometown. The last 6-8 months she has suffered a lot of depression and delusions. I'm just so glad my nephew didn't find her and that my MIL had some sort of spidey-sense to think something was wrong.

is your MIL alright? Glad she got there in time, but still hope the SIL can find peace in this life.

She's on a hold in the hospital now. Mr. Kobe's brother is trying to get back home. Our nephew is with family. But he's got Covid, so my MIL/FIL couldn't even see him before he left.

What a shit show.

Good Favre.

Can't imagine what that must be like.

Time will tell how my MIL does. We talked with her last night and she basically said, "I'm just glad K_____ didn't find her. Better me than him."

I was glad to have a mediation this morning to try to occupy my thoughts. Otherwise I'd be sitting on the couch watching Office reruns, 12 beers in, and eating cheese puffs.

Mr. Kobe is going hunting this weekend. I can say I wouldn't want to be sitting in a tree stand secluded with only my thoughts right now. Pure torture.

Did she meet Mr Kobe bro through you?
