I bet he signs with STL just to retire. I never thought he would play out his contract and he basically did. not sure LAA got their moneys worth out of him considering he has clogged the DH for them, but that's their problem.

Mine, too. That would tell me someone may take a chance on him even though he’s been washed up for the better part of a decade. It doesn’t help that I believe he’s actually older than me (and I’m 50).

This was one of the smartest moves by St L and one of the dumbest by LAA. They gave a king’s ransom to a guy who was on the downhill slide and addressed none of their issues at the time. This was right after they spent a ton of money for Josh Hamilton to not play baseball. The Angels have to be one of the dumbest organizations in sport. And they’re fucking squandering a generational talent in Trout.

Isn't he still signed for something like ten more years in some sort of other capacity from the Angels? Pretty sure that was part of that huge deal.

Yeah, they were spending money like there was no tomorrow for a while. LAA also overpaid for CJ Wilson at that time too. How Trout is not pissed is crazy.

between pujols and hamilton, angels tried, but they fucked up immensely. they were even gifted this japanese cat and are fucking it up.

Here’s the issue with those signings. Hitting was not their issue at the time they signed those guys. The year before they signed Pujols, they were among the league leaders in runs scored and starter ERA and near the bottom in blown saves. They needed bullpen help. Instead they got a washed up first baseman/ designated hitter. When they signed Hamilton, they already had too many outfielders but they signed a physically and emotionally fragile addict instead of addressing their needs. Arte Moreno is like taking my kids to Target. He wants to spend all of his money in the toy aisles and ignoring the things we actually need.
 


This is why these long contracts that Trout, Harper, and Titties Jr. got are dumb IMO

wait, are there actual things you can buy at target that are necessities?

it's a money game, obviously winning should mean money, but sho is going to make them money overseas. i forget what korean cat was signed when i was overseas, but fuck if all those games weren't televised live at like 6 in the morning. and even after the fact, rockets games were always the go to.

forget to include, but pujols and hamilton were probably money makers as well.
