Like I said we will make runs every 5 to 10 years and I think that is very reasonable. Texas and OU joining the SEC is not that big of an issue as we have always had to go through Alabama, Georgia and LSU plus throw in Tennessee and Florida in their good years. With the additions, Auburn's road actually gets a little easier because we avoid LSU on yearly basis and in the 2000s that game decided the western division title many times.

Don't discount what Auburn has had to do in the past and how the expansion actually helps us because our schedule gets easier. We've had the hardest schedule in the SEC for years so none of this is new.
What is new is Georgia being the premiere football program in the country.
So even if you were to get thru Bama -- Georgia is waiting.
That wasn't the case for a long, long time. And Texas and OU being added puts two more teams in the conference that will field more talented teams than Auburn.

Georgia becoming a powerhouse to go along with Bama is why, IMO, Auburn won't be seeing a NC or even an SEC championship any time soon.

Everything runs in cycles Auburn is terrible this year and almost beat Georgia. Thorne had 9 incomplete passes and 6 hit the hands of the receivers and if there were just two of those that change the game.

If we had depth we would have done it 2017 but Malzahn was determined to kill our RBs and couldn't recruit O-line. If Auburn gets their shit together on the o-line it will only take the right QB and we are in it. The defense, special teams and skilled players have pretty much been there we just have two areas we have to fix.

I suppose. I like the confidence, but I think Auburn is in for a long stretch without a title. With Texas and OU added, Auburn will end up with anywhere from 7th to 10th in recruiting in the SEC each year.

That is just too many teams bringing in more talent that you have to get thru and with the setup to win a national title where you had to win 2 games, or in the 12 team where you have to win 3 or 4 games extra -- that is too much to ask for them.
